ABSTRACT
Â
This study examines three narrative poems from the collection of poems Inspirasi Tanpa Api: Esai dalam Puisi by Tri Budhi Sastrio as examples of authentic texts to be used as the basis for the development of BIPA language learning materials.Â
This is a descriptive qualitative study of the practicality of authentic texts as source documents for teaching linguistic elements of standard Indonesian as well as for teaching aspects of an Indonesian cultural perspective.Â
The study examined these texts for examples of Indonesian phonetics and phonology, morphology, semantics, syntax, pragmatics, and language contact that could be made use of for BIPA classroom instructional purposes. Â Relevant linguistic examples which were found included:Â
phonotactic constraints, use of idioms, synonyms, polysemy, and use of vocabulary across languages, as well as etymological and cultural references. Practicing BIPA instructors can make use of these linguistic elements in authentic texts for the development of language practice and supplementary materials.
