Peraturan perundang-undangan yang melarang perkawinan anak adalah awal yang baik, tetapi alangkah lebih efektif bila dilengkapi dengan kebijakan yang membantu keluarga mendorong anaknya mengutamakan pendidikan daripada menikah. Insentif keuangan untuk menunda pernikahan dini juga bisa menjadi solusi. Â
Kesadaran masyarakat yang lebih besar akan konsekuensi dan biaya dalam jangka panjang dalam pernikahan dini juga merupakan komponen utama dan perlu upaya bersama untuk mengubah norma-norma budaya dalam masyarakat.
