According to the Kensington Community Police Department in Philadelphia, there are more than 80 open-air drug markets on the streets of the Kensington neighborhood. They also told the media that the Kensington community was brought about by drugs alone in 2020. Due to the violent fights provoked by narcotics, 47 individuals were killed on the street, and another 231 were injured to varied degrees. While to some, the spread of drugs would indirectly contribute to the soaring crime rate. The crime rate in the Kensington neighbourhood ranks third among all communities in Philadelphia, owing to the combination of a high crime rate and an increasingly widespread drug trade. It also has a 3.57% crime rate.A string of violent crime cases involving narcotics has enabled Philadelphia to successfully "lead" among American cities in terms of crime statistics.
