It is indeed a true distress for France and the AUKUS aggreement also shows untrustworthiness of Australia itself as a country. It is safe to say that Australia isn't the type of ally you would want to count on.

Is AUKUS a new potential threat to Indonesia?

If AUKUS is eventually proven to be a security threat to Indonesia, it is convenient that Indonesia might seek an equally powerful ally to defend and protect its territory. This incident, which had happened in the past back in 1960, demonstrated that non-aligned countries had caused the United States and its allies to be concerned about other foreign involvement. Seeking new allies that Indonesia can rely on is not impractical task.

As a result, AUKUS must use greater caution in its operations. AUKUS encourages the Indo-Pacific region to be constructed with equally strong allies, because of the basic and essential definition of non-alignment, hence not assisting any side but choosing to prioritize national security in whatever situation.

Russian President Vladimir Putin’s Reaction to the AUKUS

The establishment of a new military alliance between Australia, the United Kingdom, and the United States, known as AUKUS, has been denounced by Russian President Vladimir Putin. He presumed that the AUKUS pact could jeopardize regional stability. "Any bloc, including AUKUS, might jeopardize regional stability since gaining friends is one thing, but creating enemies is another. It jeopardizes the stability we're attempting to maintain."

Putin made the comment in an interview with CNBC that was published on the Kremlin website on Thursday (14/10). Putin is hoping that this situation will not worsen in the incident of an unanticipated event. He also hoped that the deployment of AUKUS would not aggravate tensions in the Indo-Pacific area, as well as between France and the EU. Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated that his country has seen attempts to disrupt Asia's geopolitical environment. It's accomplished by a rigid political and military system that prevents regional cooperation.

Several restricted political institutions and military blocs, according to Sergey Lavrov, contributed to the instability of the situation in Asia by sticking to the logic of the cold war and exclusionary practices. Although, Lavrov did not specify whose military grouping he was referring to. Lavrov, on the other hand, slammed the establishment of AUKUS as well as the four-way security discussion between the US, Japan, India, and Australia (QUAD). AUKUS and QUAD, according to Lavrov, are intended to weaken ASEAN's long-standing universal cooperation arrangement in Asia-Pacific. He disclosed that one of the most talked-about matters today is the United States' so-called Indo-Pacific policy.

Putin recently made a statement during a Moscow investment summit on Tuesday, November 30. He said that the AUKUS alliance is a serious issue, rather than the "China Threat" assumption. He claimed that forming such limited coalitions against someone never improves the situation. It just adds to regional tensions.

He also stated that China has the right to create its security policy in a way that ensures safety since it is a large country with a huge population, and it is inevitable that as economic potential rises, and so does military power. This year marks the 20th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Good Neighborliness and Friendly Cooperation between Russia and China, which is essential in bilateral relations. As Putin said, Russia and China have never had such a high level of interstate ties.

The two sides have always sought to create long-term good-neighborliness and mutually beneficial strategic partnerships on the basis of non-alliance, non-confrontation, and non-targeting of foreign countries, under the governance of heads of states Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping. Both Russia and China have consistently been strong supporters of world peace, contributors to sustainable growth, and defenders of international law, setting a good example for a new form of international partnership.
