The AUKUS pact, on the other hand, appears to have a variety of adverse potential consequences. Is the AUKUS program bringing Russia and China closer together? According to a recent report in the Global Times, Russia and China will 'intensify cooperation in the maritime domain.'

The article suggested that Russia and China expand their maritime cooperation beyond the Pacific, into the Atlantic and the Arctic. In both the Baltic and Black Seas, the Chinese fleet has already made several advent. Off the coast of Vladivostok in the Sea of Japan, its fleet has been training with the Russian Pacific fleet. 

Is AUKUS truly able to assist in Taiwan? In the limited waters near Taiwan, nuclear submarine propulsion will be impossible to use. Nuclear submarines may not be ideal for the East Asian region's shallow and sometimes limited waterways. As we all know, China has the benefit of distance when it comes to Taiwan. Chinese troops can arrive on the island by helicopter, parachute, or even small boats. Alliances between Russia's military design expertise and China's industrial manufacturing might be a game-changer as well.

What’s the significance of nuclear submarines?

These submarines are far quicker and harder to detect than fleets powered by standard engines. They have the ability to stay submerged for months, launch missiles longer, and carry more cargo. Allowing them to be stationed in Australia is critical to the US's supremacy in the region, according to experts. In fact, for the first time in 50 years, the United States is sharing submarine technology with other countries. It previously solely exchanged technologies with the UK. 

Australia will become the seventh country in the world to deploy nuclear-powered submarines, joining the United States, the United Kingdom, France, China, India, and Russia. Australia has said that it does not want to acquire nuclear weapons in the future.

Despite the fact that a nuclear-powered submarine is not the same as one that can fire nuclear weapons, this technology has tremendous strategic worth. According to the US Naval Research Institute, "excellent speed, range, stealth, and endurance make nuclear submarines an extremely strong offensive weapon that can project power and bring the war closer to the opponent." 

The AUKUS deal indisputably strengthened Australia's military advantage while also indirectly enhancing US military power. For the time being, Australia's political clout in Washington has grown. "Australia is the United States' closest and most reliable ally," said the United States President Joe Biden.

Australia : a false friend of France and the European Union?

The AUKUS pact resulted ties disintegration between Australia and France. Australia really did walk out of a multi-billion dollar contract with France to build nuclear-powered submarine with the US and the UK. 

This is surely an unexpected disappointment to the French President. "Do you think he lied to you?" a reporter asked the French President about his opinion of Australia at the recent event. "I don't think, I know," President Emmanuel Macron responded.
