Crime and Punishment konsisten hingga akhir bagaimana sebuah gagasan diterapkan dan apa konsekuensi dari gagasan tersebut. Bagi saya, konsekuensi yang diperhitungkan dalam Crime and Punishment tidak membuat sang penggagas beralih prinsip dan ide yang dipercaya. Biasanya, saat menghadapi konsekuensi tertentu, seorang tokoh dalam suatu karya mengalami semacam pencerahan signifikan dan beralih prinsip. Hal ini sangat berbeda dengan Crime and Punishment. Setiap tindakan buruk ada ganjarannya, namun itu tidak memengaruhi aspek kehidupan lainnya yang dipercaya oleh tokoh-tokoh Crime and Punishment.
