Based on the journals that I review; they have a few conclusions about the relationship between social media and democracy. First, social media has an important role in the implementation of democracy in Indonesia. Social media can make people more open to the government's performance and able to express their opinions through social media that is increasingly accessible to all people. Second, social media provides a space for communication, interaction and information between its users so that the campaign team of each presidential candidate can use it to gather support more easily.

This is different, because it is usually difficult for people's political participation to enter the public sphere due to pressure from the owners of capital. Meanwhile, today, various communication and interaction strategies can shape public opinion as well as provide a strong enough influence and advantage to candidates. Third, now with the existence of social media and the increasing number of alternative channels of political participation, it further strengthens democracy and has the potential to improve its quality.

On the other hand, the existence of social media does not always mean positive in democracy. There are certain conditions that make social media misleading if not used properly. In negative contribution which is related to hoax information. In order to make a positive contribution, every society must filter the information obtained or not easily persuaded by the camouflage of misleading false news. Third, the misuse of social media can change Indonesia's democratic principles.

Because of incorrect information and easy public trust can change the personality of the community itself slowly. Social media can be a double-edged sword, used as a strength of democracy and on the other hand a weakness of democracy. The negative effect of anonymity, for example, is that someone can hide their real identity and use a fake identity to carry out counterproductive actions, namely carrying out black campaigns or spreading negative issues on social media.

The influence of social media in society is predicted to have a good impact on society in this era of globalization. Etymologically, democracy comes from the Greek words demos which means people and cratos or cratein which means government or power. So, demos-cratein or demos-cratos means the government of the people or the power of the people. In terminology, there are many views about democracy. There is no single view of what democracy is. Democracy can be seen as a form of government, as a political system, and as a pattern of state life with the accompanying principles. Based on its ideology, Indonesian democracy is a democracy based on Pancasila.

Pancasila democracy in the broadest sense is sovereignty or supreme power in the people whose implementation is imbued with the values of Pancasila. Pancasila democracy in a narrow sense is the sovereignty of the people which is carried out according to the wisdom of deliberation representative. Indonesian democracy is a constitutional democracy, apart from having formulated values and norms in the 1945 Constitution, the Indonesian constitution also limits the power of government and guarantees the basic rights of citizens.

The practice of Pancasila democracy runs in accordance with the dynamics of the development of Indonesian state life. The democratic principles of Pancasila have ideally been formulated, while at the empirical level they experience ups and downs. As a choice for the pattern of state life, the democratic system is considered important and can be accepted by many countries as a way to achieve the goals of state life, namely welfare and justice. In essence, a country can be called a democratic country, if in that government the people have the opportunity to participate in decision-making, have equality before the law, and get a decent income because there is a fair distribution of income.

I would like to make suggestion in order to ensure the safety of a country due to the advancement of social media. At this time, social media deviations have the potential to have a significant impact on the course of Indonesian democracy. As a result, as a user, you must be skeptical when gathering information that is difficult to accept, seek for the facts first, and provide warnings to those who propagate false information. Making legislation or rules regulating the misuse of social media, such as the ITE (Informasi dan Transaksi Elektronik) Law, is one of the Indonesia government's initiatives to address this problem. Combating hoaxes requires the involvement of all levels of society to work hand in hand with the government to build mutual awareness so that they can use social media responsibly with positive content.
