Abstract
This research aims to analyze the plot and characters in the Netflix series "Wednesday" using qualitative methods. The study was conducted by collecting data from secondary sources such as articles and film reviews. The data was analyzed using content analysis techniques, which resulted in findings about how the plot and characters in this film were designed and executed. The results of this study show that the storyline in the "Wednesday" film is very interesting and has characters with strong and complex backgrounds.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melakukan analisis terhadap alur dan karakter dalam film "Wednesday" serial Netflix dengan menggunakan metode kualitatif. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan mengumpulkan data dari sumber-sumber sekunder seperti artikel dan review film. Data tersebut dianalisis dengan teknik content analysis, yang menghasilkan temuan tentang bagaimana alur dan karakter dalam film ini dirancang dan dieksekusi. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa alur cerita dalam film "Wednesday" sangat menarik dan memiliki karakter dengan latar belakang yang kuat dan kompleks.

INTRODUCTION
The film "Wednesday" is an adaptation of the fictional Addams family, which follows high school student Wednesday Addams as she explores the human world.
In this article, it only describes some of the prominent characters in the film Wednesday, the plot of the film in this article is explained from the beginning of the first episode to the last episode.
Character in this movie is:
as Wednesday, is also the main character in this film. Jenna Ortega is one of the Wednesday cast members who has managed to grab attention. This young actress was born on September 27, 2002, in California, United States. This woman whose full name is Jenna Marie Ortega is also usually called ReeRee. It is known that she started her career as a child actress. It is known that Jenna made her debut in Jane on The CW, a comedy-drama that included the series Jane The Virgin (2014-2019). Jenna returned to star in one of the Disney Channel series, namely Stuck in the Middle (2016-2018) as Harley Diaz. His skills in acting led him to win the Imagen Award held by the Imagen Foundation. Reporting from the IMDb site, Jenna has starred in many films and series to TV Shows. Among them are the characters Phoebe in The Babysitter: Killer Queen (2020), Katie Torres in Yes Day (2021). Next up on Wednesday's cast list is Catherine Zeta who plays Morticia Addams, Wednesday's mother and former queen bee at Nevermore Academy, where she meets her husband Gomez. She is a good mother to the rebellious Wednesday, though she has several secrets to hide. This 1969-born actress started her career at a young age. It is known that Zeta-Jones first starred in the film Les 1001 nuits which aired in 1990. Throughout the 90s, Zeta-Jones appeared in many feature films to television series. Before that, it turned out that Zeta-Jones had existed for 10 years and was actively playing drama in the Catholic Church. Having many talents, Zeta-Jones is also good at singing. He has released songs called In the Arms of Love and I Can't Help Myself which are included in the album Jeff Wayne's Musical Version of Spartacus. Unfortunately, Zeta-Jones' career as a singer has not been so smooth. This also prompted him to return to the world of acting. Until now, IMDb has recorded many films and series that Zeta-Jones has acted in. Apart from Wednesday, he also appears in the National Treasure: Edge of History series which airs from 2022 to 2023.

Then there is Luis Guzman. This senior actor named Luis Guzman is also on the list of Wednesday's players who play the role of Wednesday's father. He will show great love for his daughter in any way. He has liked Morticia, who is now his wife, since they were teenagers. Guzman was born on August 28, 1956 in Cayey, Puerto Rico. She started her career as a child actress in 2010, when she appeared in The Glades. She made her breakthrough by playing Enid Sinclair on the Netflix series Wednesday in 2022. Myers is a big fan of K-pop, especially the group Seventeen. According to her 2022 interview, she also likes Teen Vogue, The Lord of the Rings and Star Wars fandom are "two fantastic pillars of online fandom that shape the way Emma sees the world". He describes himself as an introvert.
Percy Hynes White,
Xavier Thorpe (Percy Hynes White) When Wednesday arrives at Nevermore, he meets Xavier, a popular, mysterious boy with whom Wednesday has a childhood relationship. At school, Xavier is a pretty talented psychic painter. Bianca Barclay (Joy Sunday) Bianca is a pretty popular girl at Nevermore. He immediately has issues with Wednesday (although it doesn't help that he is also Xavier's ex).
As a popular student, he also has some interesting problems, including his struggles with his siren powers and some of his family's secrets.
This actor was born in Canada on October 8, 2001. Percy is the son of Joel Thomas Hynes, a novelist, actor and director. Percy's father won many awards for writing including the Winterset Award and the Governor General's Award for English Language Fiction. Percy's mother, meanwhile, is an actress as well as a producer who made her debut in the early 2000's. He appeared in the films Young Triffle (2006), Down to the Dirt (2008), Grown Up Movie Star (2009).
Georgie Farmer,
Ajax (Georgie Farmer) Ajax Petropolus is a Nevermore student who is described as an "awkward and shy" teenager. He was also quite nervous when he looked at his interlocutor. The reason is, Ajax is a Gorgon, a Greek mythological creature who has snake hair and can turn people into stone with his gaze. Georgie Bleu Farmer is an English actor. Birth: May 26, 2001 (21 years old), Leytonstone, London, United Kingdom.
Moosa Mostafa,
Eugene (Moosa Mostafa) Moosa Mostafa plays Eugene Otinger, a very awkward teenager. He becomes one of the strangest students at Nevermore Academy and has the responsibility of being the president of the school's beekeeping club. Moosa Mostafa is a British actor. He is best known for playing the role of Eugene Otinger in the television series Wednesday. She has also worked on the television show The Last Bus as Nas. Moosa started his career with a short film Nativity Rocks! released in 2018.
Gwendoline Christie,
Larissa Weems (Gwendoline Christie) Principal Larissa Weems runs Nevermore with an iron fist which is quite wise. He maintains peace between the school's outcasts and the normal people of Jericho City. He is a former student who always plays football with his roommate, Morticia Addams. Now, he must face his son, Wednesday Addams. Gwendoline Tracey Philippa Christie is an English actress and model. She is best known for playing Brienne of Tarth on the HBO fantasy-drama series Game of Thrones and Captain Phasma in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
Victor Dorobantu,
Thing (Victor Dorobantu) Another character from the Addams Family is Thing. He is Wednesday's right-hand man who helps him in his investigations and acts as his confidant. Having a shape like a finger, Thing's appearance really attracts the attention of the audience. Victor Dorobantu was born on March 5, 1997, in Ploiesti, Romania. After activating in other domains, Victor started his career as a magician performing at private&public events and TV shows within Romania. He is known for being an actor, hand actor and creature performer. Victor is known for his performance in the Netflix series "Wednesday"(2022) for his role "Thing".
Isaac Ordonez,
Pugsley Addams (Isaac Ordonez) Wednesday's sweet little brother, Pugsley played by Isaac Ordonez. In his acting career, he previously appeared in the Disney film A Wrinkle in Time (2018), a short film, and the indie film 7th and Union.

METHOD
Sugiyono (2009: 15) reveals the definition of a qualitative research approach based on the post-positivist philosophy used by researchers to study the state of the main natural objects (not experiments). Means include targeted sampling of data from data sources. The survey method uses triangulation (combination), data analysis is inductive or qualitative in nature, and qualitative findings mean not generalizations.
Qualitative research methods can be used to research this film by producing descriptive data in the form of written or spoken words from observable behavior. Qualitative methods will rely on observation and do not use statistical analysis or quantitative means. To examine films using qualitative methods, researchers must interpret and describe the depiction of the impact of industrial activities presented in the documentary film by describing it. Data collection techniques can be done by looking at the film and recording the scenes. The research results can be analyzed using qualitative analysis techniques. The stages that must be passed in the qualitative research method include data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The process of collecting data in qualitative research can be done in various ways, for example by going directly to the field or observing. In the data reduction stage, researchers will select relevant data and reduce irrelevant data. Presentation of data is done by making a data display so that the entire contents of the data that was successfully obtained from the research process can be read and examined easily. After that, researchers can draw conclusions from the results of the analysis that has been done.
This research uses a qualitative method with content analysis technique. The data is taken from secondary sources such as articles and film reviews. The data is analysed by looking for patterns or findings about how the plot and characters in this film are designed and executed. Content analysis aims to organize and extract meaning from collected data and draw realistic conclusions from it. Qualitative data analysis shares common features such as participant observation, in-depth interviews, and focus groups. Data analysis in qualitative research is distinctively different from quantitative research methods. Understanding different techniques and methods in quantitative research and qualitative insights will give a better understanding of data analysis.
DISCUSSION
Character in the Wednesday
Character is a set of traits that are always admired as signs of kindness, virtue and moral maturity. Etymologically, the term character originates from the Latin character, which means character, character, psychological traits, character, personality and morals.

She loves gossip, social media, the idea of love, going to dances and on dates, hearts, stuffed animals, and pretty much everything that Wednesday Addams abhors in life. Although their relationship starts off a bit rocky, Enid ultimately becomes the most important person to Wednesday over the course of the episodes. Enid is an energetic and fun-loving ESFP. There are quizzes available online that help identify whether you are more like Wednesday Addams or Enid Sinclair based on your personality traits. According to a Myers-Briggs personality test conducted by Stylist magazine, Enid Sinclair is an ENFJ (Extraverted, Intuitive, Feeling, Judging) personality type.
- Xavier Thorpe, Xavier Thorpe is portrayed by Percy Hynes White in "Wednesday". Xavier is a student at Nevermore Academy. There is a major possibility that Percy Hynes White will return as Xavier Thorpe in season 2 to complete the romance between Xavier and Wednesday. Xavier is one of the characters in a quote quiz about "Wednesday" on BuzzFeed. According to an article, Xavier falls between good and bad characters in terms of likability. In the finale of season 1, Wednesday accuses Xavier of being the Hyde who is responsible for the killings, but it turns out that Tyler Galpin, Sheriff Galpin's son, is actually the Hyde. Xavier does therapy sessions with Dr. Kinbott, and Wednesday discovers this.
- Ajax Petropolus, Ajax Petropolus is portrayed by Georgie Farmer in "Wednesday". He is a gorgon student at Nevermore Academy. Ajax becomes the boyfriend of Enid Sinclair. He is a member of the Nightshade Society and is on Xavier Thorpe's team, the 'Amonti Llado', in the Poe Cup. Ajax is introverted and shy, and he avoids engaging with others when he can. He is anxious about looking anyone in the her eye. Ajax has the power to turn an onlooker into stone, but he hides his hair (made of snakes) under a beanie for safety, so he does not use his power accidentally.
- Eugene Otinger, Eugene otinger is portrayed by Moosa Mostafa in "Wednesday". He is the quirky president of Nevermore Academy's beekeeping club. Eugene possesses the psychic ability to control bees, which is described as 'apikinesis'. He becomes Wednesday's first real friend at the academy and works with her to solve the mystery of why attacks are plaguing the school. Plot in the movie Wednesday
The following is the plot of the Wednesday film from the first episode to the last episode.
Episode 1 "Wednesday's Child is Full of Woe."
The first episode of "Wednesday" is titled "Wednesday's Child is Full of Woe."
The episode starts with students arriving for classes at Nancy Reagan High School. Wednesday finds her little brother Pugsley tied up in her locker and left an apple in his mouth. She unties him from the ropes, and they talk about their parents.
Later that day, Wednesday spots the gift her dad left for her. She decides to make Thing into her loyal helper and escapes the school. Principal Larissa drives her to her therapist’s appointment as she wants to keep an eye on her. Wednesday asks to go to the toilet in the middle of the appointment, escapes through the toilet window, and heads to the nearest cafe across the street to get information on how to leave the town.
Through an attempt to escape Nevermore Academy during her court-mandated therapy session in the local town of Jericho, Wednesday meets Tyler, a boy who is also trying to escape his own problems.
At the end of the day, her parents call, and she begrudgingly admits she loves being in the school.
Episode 2 "Woe is the Loneliest Number".
In this episode, Wednesday investigates the mystery surrounding Rowan's death and his subsequent reappearance at Nevermore Academy. She finds suspicious connections between her family and the school's dark history. Wednesday also discovers a secret society and participates in dangerous school games. She finds a weird mask in a secret compartment under Rowan's bed, which provides more clues to the mystery. Meanwhile, the sheriff questions Wednesday about the strange happenings of the night. Wednesday faces off against a fierce rival in the cutthroat Poe Cup race. The episode ends with Wednesday being arrested after her classmate’s alert Principal Weems about her methods of torture to make Tyler confess.
Episode 3 "Friend or Woe".
In Episode 3 of "Wednesday," titled "Friend or Woe," the episode starts where the previous episode left off, with Wednesday captured in the secret Nightshade room. She wakes up from her vision and spots the monster lurking nearby. She chases it into the woods and discovers that the monster can transform into a human. Wednesday tries to show Xavier the monster's footprints, but they have disappeared. During Outreach Day, Nevermore's outcasts mingle with Jericho's "normies" in Pilgrim World. Wednesday stumbles upon a secret society and questions the principal about her decision to hide the truth. The principal tells her that she can't risk having Nevermore ruined on her watch. Wednesday's kidnappers reveal themselves to be other students dressed up in their Nightshades gear. Eugene reminds Wednesday of her brother, and she intervenes on his behalf when he is being bullied. From Tyler, Wednesday learns that the old pilgrim house is now a ruin out in the woods where sketchy and troubled people gather to do drugs and such.
Episode 4 "Woe What a Night"
In this episode, the students of Nevermore Academy attend the annual Rave'N Dance, with Wednesday reluctantly joining in.
In Episode 4 of "Wednesday," Wednesday was about to cut up a body to perform her own investigation. She knew how to do an autopsy, and she was well prepared for this because she and her family were jacks of all trades. She even mentioned that on her 13th birthday, her uncle gave her a cadaver. While Thing was still photocopying the images, the coroner and Galpin arrived at the lab, so Wednesday hid inside an empty cabinet. Eugene ventured into the cave in the middle of the night, despite Wednesday warning him not to go there alone because it was dangerous.
Episode 5 "You Reap What You Woe"
Episode 5 of "Wednesday" is titled "You Reap What You Woe". During Parents Weekend, Wednesday digs into her family's past and accidentally gets her dad arrested. She is trying to figure out what happened the night her dad was accused of killing someone back when he was a student at Nevermore. In a flashback, we see a young Larissa giving a statement to the police blaming Wednesday's father for the murder. Wednesday confronts her mom and asks her to tell her the truth about what happened to Garrett. Morticia confesses that she accidentally stabbed him while trying to save Gomez. By the end of the episode, Wednesday discovers Principal Weems' secret: that she's a shapeshifter and was the one who posed as Rowan the day after he was murdered.
Episode 6 "Happy Lonely Day to You"
Episode 6 of "Wednesday" is titled "Happy Lonely Day to You". In this episode, Wednesday's friends throw her a surprise birthday party, but she would rather mark the occasion by solving the murders. Wednesday performs a seance to try to contact Goody Addams to teach her how to control her psychic abilities. She receives a mysterious letter under the door, which leads her to Crackstone's crypt. Wednesday discovers a suspicious Latin inscription inside the tomb: "Fire will rain when I rise". The episode delves deep into the Raven mythology and shows how Wednesday's fate is to always look for the darkness in other people. Instead of thanking her friends for their kindness, Wednesday lets everyone know how she's annoyed. She shuts down everyone who tries to demonstrate affection for her, a habit that will make her lose some good friends and allies.
Episode 7 "If You Don't Woe Me by Now"
In Episode 7 of "Wednesday" titled "If You Don't Woe Me by Now," Wednesday returns to her dorm to find it completely trashed and Thing stabbed and suspended against the post. She is panicked and traumatized, but she manages to protect Fester from the monster murders while continuing her investigation into them. Unfortunately, there are no further details available about the plot of this episode. However, previous episodes have shown that Wednesday is trying to solve the murders at Nevermore Academy while also uncovering secrets about her family's past.
Episode 8 "A Murder of Woes"
Episode 8 of "Wednesday" is titled "A Murder of Woes". In this episode, Wednesday meets with Tyler in the woods and confronts him about being the Hyde. Tyler denies the allegations and asks Wednesday why she would confront him alone in the woods if she really thought he was the Hyde. Wednesday replies that she didn’t come alone; she’s brought a few sirens along and Bianca uses her powers to sedate him. They take him to Xavier’s art studio and tie him down on the chair with chains. Wednesday starts interrogating him and discovers that Tyler's mom was a Hyde and she thinks Tyler got the genes from her. Tyler pleads that being a son of an outcast doesn’t necessarily make him a monster. Meanwhile, Ms. Thornhill starts her ritual and awakens Crackstone who promises his vengeance will be swift and true. Wednesday tries to confront him but he stabs her and they leave her for dead. Goody appears before her and tells her how to defeat Crackstone. She tells her to use the power of love, which is the only thing that can defeat him.
CONCLUSION & SUGGESTIONS
This research shows that the film "Wednesday" has a strong and complex plot and characters. The plot of the film is well-formed and introduces strong characters that are developed with a strong background. The character of Wednesday Addams and other supporting characters are very charismatic with high-quality appearance and dialogue that adds charm and drama to the film. Qualitative methods and content analysis techniques are used in this research to explore the plot and characters in the film "Wednesday" that make the story more interesting to watch. Through this research, the suggestion that I can give is that the production of this film can be further improved.
