As a teenager, I was told that man and woman should be equal. The society has its stereotypes about their typical man and woman. The same goes with Alexander Wiliiams, an ordinary 16 year-old teenage boy, who lives in San Francisco, California.
San Francisco is a beautiful city located in the bay area, surrounded by the Pacific Ocean. For Alexander, San Francisco is a beautiful escape. He loves exploring the amusing Golden Gate, overlooking the deep blue Pacific Ocean, on Saturday mornings. Alexander frequently sits there for hours. He sometimes wonder what it's like to travel to the end of the world, believing that there are a greater things out there.
Alexander lives with his parents and his younger brother, Aidan. Aidan is the star of the family, the most handsome, yet diligent, not to mention his achievements in soccer. Even though Alexander is the first child, Aidan still gets all of the attention. The Williams always hold a Thanksgiving dinner; and even during a family event like that their family is always very proud of Aidan, making Alexander extremely jealous.
High school was going unexpectedly well for Alexander. His grades went up and his self-esteem increased day by day. All of that ended, right when Aidan was going to the same school as he was.
They didn't get along very well, due to the fact that Aidan was always the favorite child to both his parents. Alexander sometimes denied if someone asked whether he and Aidan were related because he didn't want to be compared. But, he couldn't hold it any longer because they have the same surname.
As time went by, Alexander didn't enjoy high school like he used to since Aidan got in the way of his 'high school life'. That was when he started exploring new things. Since he was a little boy, he has never been interested in gun toys and sports. He's more passionate about arts and theatre.Â
Alexander was in his school's drama club; he had already performed in a lot of school plays, but his family never watched any of his performances, which made their relationship further apart. As he got older, he started to be curious about new and exciting things.
One evening after coming home from school, he felt particularly bored, so he started to watch videos in YouTube. YouTube is filled with young people just like himself, making creative video content and sharing their passion. One day, a makeup tutorial video accidentally got in his YouTube timeline. He clicked it by accident because he was actually going to watch the video right next to it.
Surprisingly, he got addicted to it and started watching tons of makeup tutorials video that he never thought he would. A few days after that, he was ready to try makeup after watching lots and lots of tutorials online. Right after school ended, he went straight to the local convenience store to buy the things he needed, starting from foundation until mascara.
When he got to the cashier, the woman cashier asked, "These are so many makeup stuffs, what are they for?" Alexander lied saying that they were for his girlfriend birthday, so he bought all of her favorite makeup for her. He feared that if he had told the cashier the truth, she would judge him too quickly.
After he had got all of his needs, he rushed home with a lot of excitement. He was finally ready to try on the makeup from the basic tutorial, which was applying foundation and face powder. He failed at first and the makeup made him somewhat hideous. Alexander felt extremely upset with how it turned out.
