Personal Letter is a type of letter that contains personal matter and for personal purposes, usually from one individual to another. The personal letter usually use an informal but polite language.

* The General Structure of Personal Letters:

  1. Date
  2. Greeting
  3. Body
  4. Closing
  5. Complimentary Close
  6. Signature

*  The Language Features:

Focus on exchanging personal current news, feelings, and conditions

Use of pronouns, simple present tense, and past tense

Use of date and address

Informal greetings or solutations

CLOSING SECTION

A personal letter or a friendly letter is a type of letter which concerns  personal matters. It is sent from one individual to his/her friends, relatives,  parents, etc. Personal letters may help you to maintain and build personal  relationship with them. To understand what a personal letter is and how to  write the letter, you need to identify the social function, generic structure,  language features.

LEARNING ACTIVITY 2: INVITATIONS

INTRODUCTION

An invitation  letter is  a  document  that  presents  a formal  request for  the  presence  of  an  individual, a group of people or an organization at an event.  An invitation  may be formal or informal. It could be printed on paper or sent via  email. Invitations  can  be  used  for  a  variety  of  events  such  as  weddings,  graduation  ceremonies,  annual  dinners,  anniversary  parties  and  birthday  parties. An invitation usually contains some information about the host, the  date  and  time  of  the  event,  the  venue  of  the  event  and  how  to  accept  the  invitation. An invitation is usually sent many days in advance of the event,  to give the invitees an opportunity to respond to the invitation.

INTRODUCTION

Advertising is  a means of communication with the users of a product or service. Advertisements  are  messages  paid  for  by  those  who  send  them  and  are  intended to inform or influence people who receive them, as defined by the Advertising Association of the UK. Advertising is always present, though

Pe ople  may  not  be  aware  of  it.  In  today's  world,  advertising  uses  every possible media to get its message through. It does this via television, print  (newspapers, magazines, journals etc), radio, press, internet, direct selling,  hoardings, mailers, contests, sponsorships, posters, clothes, events, colours,  sounds, visuals and even people (endorsements).

Advertising is a form of communication between producers and audiences by utilizing mass media, so that messages can be received globally and simultaneously. advertising also has the ability to change people's behavior. so that often there are misconceptions in the social function of an advertisement.
