Indonesia's Plans to Retake Its Position as Major Oil and Gas Producer

SKK Migas also launched a special program called One Door Service Policy (ODSP). This program is to make legal and permit process to execute oil and gas projects in Indonesia become easier and faster. Other purpose is to eliminate several bottleneck in the project permit process, to improve the accuracy of data available for the government, cutting down bureaucracy, and curb corruption in the process. This program purposed to make the legal and permit process faster, from previously 15 days into only 3 days.

The direct impact is the oil and gas projects in Indonesia finished by the original planning, to keep the project cost not rising from the originally agreed and the project executed efficiently. The program hopefully can improve the investment climate, especially in oil and gas industry, so it can be as attractive as investment in Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam, or countries in other continents. This is very important because oil and gas investments are the international investments.

One Door Service Policy (ODSP) is a correct action by the government to reach the 2030 oil and gas production target. From the lawmaker side, the future law products must be purposed to grow the oil and gas investment, not just to complicate the bureaucracy. As promised by Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Arifin Tasrif, that his ministry will no longer be a factory for rules but a facilitator of industry growth.
