Open Love Letter For My Daughter

 

My dear Daughter,

Mariam,

You will never know how deeply, purely and completely I love you and your brother. All of You are the last thing on my mind when I fall asleep and the first thing when I wake up. I thank God for you every day and hope that Daddy and I are giving you the kind of  childhood which you'll look back when you're old and smile.

Between all the fun things we experience as a family, there may be times I am too strict and perhaps downright unpleasant. I will not apologize for them and rest assured I only do and say things you may not like because I love you.

Being a mom doesn't have an instruction manual, raising you has never been easy for me. My greatest fear in life is that I will fail you -  that somehow, some way I won't be the mom that you need me to be. I could handle failing at all else in my life, but I cannot fail at that.

I have worked very hard in almost 12 years to build a loving relationship with you. A relationship built on love, trust, and respect. I have always known that the time would come when life would get tougher for you. A time when being able to come to me with life's problems would be necessary, and I have always wanted you to know that I would be here for you -  no matter what. I have tried to always keep an open line of communication with you.

I remember what it was like to need my mom to just listen and understand. It has always been really important to me for you to trust that I will always be there for you, and for you to trust that you can talk to me about anything. I am grateful that you make use of our open communication, and trust me with your thoughts and feelings. They are priceless.

Sometimes when we try new things, we fail. This will happen... a lot. You and I are so much alike. We don't like to fail. Ever. Unfortunately, we have to. It's how we learn. You will learn what is truly important to you, and what you are truly passionate about. You will pick yourself up from those failures, and you will work until you succeed.

THIS is what separates the things we think we want to do from the things that we really want to do, and you better believe that when people like you and I set our minds to what we really want, we make it happen. It's who we are.

I am thankful every day that you are my daughter. You are a funny, witty, and incredibly bright little girl. You are beautiful, and I love you. The joy, happiness and laughter that you bring to my world are boundless! You are truly one of the most amazing girl that I have ever met, and my love for you grows more and more every day.

You will never know how proud of you I am. Always remember: I love you. I'm proud of you. I will always be here for you... if HE- The Almighty allows me , even when I don't have all of the answers. I promise I will always do my best.
