After several years of struggling with the Covid-19 pandemic where people were unable to do many outdoor activities in crowds, 2022 seemed to be the year of the rise of Indonesia's creative industry, including the music industry.
Seeing the great enthusiasm of the people in enlivening the creative industry during 2022, it would not be wrong if in 2023 there will be more top musicians, both domestic and foreign who will be performing in Indonesia throughout this year. Likewise, a series of music festivals and concerts with a line-up of well-known musicians will also be sure to return to enliven Indonesia's creative industry which attracts not a few tourists from abroad.
The Greater Jakarta area still seems to be the center for music festivals and concerts to be held in 2023. But coinciding with the holy month of Ramadan in early 2023, and a large number of Muslims in Indonesia, there are only a handful of concerts and music festivals during the holy month of Ramadan. These concerts will again entertain music lovers in Indonesia, especially in the Greater Jakarta area after Eid at end of this April. The following is a schedule of concerts and music festivals to be held in the Greater Jakarta area throughout 2023:
Suga BTS Tour
A member of the South Korean boy band BTS, Suga will return to Indonesia to greet ARMY (BTS fandom name) which is part of the Agust D TOUR 2023 agenda. The concert entitled “Suga BTS Tour” will be held on May 26-28, 2023 at Indonesia Convention Exhibition (ICE) BSD, Tangerang.
It can be said that this is one of the most awaited K-Pop concerts, especially for ARMY, because Suga himself last came to Indonesia in 2017 when he performed with BTS in the BTS “The Wings Tour” series.
Java Jazz Festival 2023
One of the anticipated music festivals in Indonesia is the Java Jazz Festival 2023. For connoisseurs of jazz genre music, this festival is a go-to with the many appearances of famous jazz musicians from various countries, including Indonesia.
Held over three days from June 2nd to 4th, Java Jazz Festival 2023 will feature legendary singers like Titi DJ, to up-and-coming artists like Oslo Ibrahim. The Java Jazz Festival 2023 will be held at JIExpo Kemayoran with ticket prices ranging from Rp. 175,000 to Rp. 625,000.
We The Fest 2023
One of the festivals that we should not miss is We The Fest or commonly known as WTF. Taking place on July 21-23 at the GBK Sports Complex, Senayan, this festival is one of the most awaited festivals by the people because it will present many well-known international musicians with the likes of The 1975, The Strokes, Lewis Capaldi, etc. Do not miss Indonesian musicians such as Project Pop, Kunto Aji, etc, who will also enliven We The Fest 2023.
