Review Biography of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle

The Complete Sherlock Holmes story  has 4 different time sections, first the early years, then the Rise of Holmes' Reputation, then the Hiatus Period and Return, and finally the Later Years.

First, The Early Years

The story begins with Dr. John Watson, a military doctor, returning to London after being injured in Afghanistan. He meets Sherlock Holmes, a brilliant and eccentric detective, and becomes his roommate and biographer. In the early stories, Holmes solves a series of cases, including the murder of a woman in a locked room (A Study in Scarlet) and the theft of a valuable treasure (The Sign of Four).

Second, The Rise of Holmes' Reputation

As Holmes' reputation grows, he becomes known as the greatest detective in London. He solves a series of complex cases, including the murder of a wealthy businessman (The Red-Headed League) and the disappearance of a young woman (A Case of Identity). Holmes' arch-nemesis, Professor Moriarty, is introduced in The Final Problem, and their epic battle ends with both men falling to their deaths at Reichenbach Falls.

Third, The Hiatus and Return

After his apparent death, Holmes disappears for several years, and Watson marries and sets up his medical practice. However, Holmes returns in The Empty House, revealing that he had faked his death to throw Moriarty's henchmen off his trail. Holmes resumes his detective work, solving cases such as the murder of a retired sea captain (The Black Peter) and the theft of a valuable pearl necklace (The Six Napoleons).

Last, The Later Years

In the later stories, Holmes' powers decline, and he becomes more introspective He solves cases such as the murder of a wealthy American (The Three Garridebs) and the theft of a valuable collection of jewels (The Illustrious Client). The final story, The Retired Colourman, features an elderly Holmes, who has retired to the countryside and is no longer actively solving cases.
