ABSTRAK
sejarah masuknya Islam ke Kalimantan yang dimulai sejak abad ke-13 melalui interaksi antara masyarakat lokal dan para pedagang Muslim dari wilayah seperti Gujarat, Arab, dan Persia. Proses penyebaran Islam di Kalimantan berlangsung damai melalui jalur perdagangan dan didukung oleh peran penting kerajaan-kerajaan lokal, seperti Kerajaan Kutai dan Banjarmasin. Para pemimpin dan tokoh ulama, termasuk Syekh Muhammad Arsyad Al-Banjari, Sultan Suriansyah, Sunan Gunung Jati, Syekh Abdul Rahman, dan Syekh Jaffar, berperan dalam mengintegrasikan ajaran Islam ke dalam kehidupan sosial dan budaya masyarakat setempat. Melalui pendekatan dakwah yang adaptif terhadap budaya lokal, ajaran Islam berkembang dan berakar dalam kehidupan masyarakat Kalimantan tanpa menghilangkan identitas budaya mereka. Artikel ini mengkaji faktor-faktor yang berkontribusi terhadap perkembangan Islam di Kalimantan, termasuk perdagangan, pendidikan, dan dukungan dari tokoh-tokoh agama serta kerajaan. Dengan demikian, masuknya Islam tidak hanya mengubah aspek religius, tetapi juga memberikan pengaruh signifikan terhadap struktur sosial dan budaya masyarakat Kalimantan, menciptakan identitas Islam yang khas di wilayah tersebut.
