My name is Thimotius and I am a student from SMP Methodist Tanjung Morawa. I will write down my observations of how schools were like before the pandemic, during the pandemic and after the pandemic from my own perspective
Covid 19 was first announced on March 2, 2020. Day by day, the impact of this is getting bigger and causes many negative changes in every sector and every person. one of which is the change that has an impact on students.
Before the pandemic, schools were still run as usual, namely face-to-face. And when covid 19 takes place students are set to take lessons online. there are some differences before and after covid 19 in students and schools according to my observations.
According to my observations the impact of the Pandemic on students and schools:
- All students are usually afraid of being late when entering class in every subject and we students are trying to prevent obedience. The difference that I found during this pandemic was that students began to care less about attendance. 25% Students begin to ignore this and there are often delays in online learning. Or there are even students who did not attend the class
-Usually students always listen to and follow directions from the teacher, especially giving assignments and other things. because if students do not obey it a student will pay the price. but when the online learning process took place students began to care less about the assignments assigned by the teachers and did not care about the teacher or their grades.
-When the face-to-face school is in progress, students must face daily exams or semester exams, students study and work hard to get the best score on the exam. In contrast, when studying online, when exams are held students only need to browse the internet and copy the answers to their questions. Over time this will continue so that students will be lazy to find answers on their own and will depend on the internet. This thing that I observed happened for several months.
And those habits are starting to disappear and some students including me are trying to commit themselves to being better at learning.
Students begin to be motivated to change, and there are several factors, such as tasks that are quite pile up and also repetitive. Getting bored of learning online and always staying at home. Lack of communication between students.
the effects that I have observed have begun to be replaced by new and better habits.
In 2021 it is planned that schools will begin face-to-face learning. It is also based on the opinion of each student whether it is appropriate or not if the face-to-face school is applied. The learning process that will occur after a pandemic depends on the individual. We cannot blame students for habits that have changed during a pandemic or for teachers who assign large-scale assignments to encourage students to be more active. my hope is that we can resuscitate ourselves to adopt newer and better habits. I say hello to all students in Indonesia and for always following applicable health protocols.
Stay safe!
