PPDB Online in DKI Jakarta Still Using the Zoning and Age System, Is It Effective?

On Friday (10/06/2022), new student admissions (PPDB) were opened for the elementary school level, and on Monday (13/06/2022), they opened for junior high, high school, and vocational levels in Jakarta. However, there are still many problems that are felt by parents who wants to register for PPDB. One of them is the problem of not having enough age when you wish to register on the zoning line.

It is known indeed for PPDB this time, the age problem is a factor in many protests from parents. When their child is sufficient age, but several registrants are above their age, they may eliminate from the registration slot. Therefore, many consider that PPDB, which uses the zoning age system doesn't benefit many parties. 

Vicka K (26 Years old), one of the honorary teachers who teach at SMK 1 Cengkareng, feels positive and negative about PPDB in DKI Jakarta 2022. She said, "the age system in PPDB this time is quite concerned because there are many protests about the adequacy of the age that has been set. Many parents and students feel disappointed, especially those under the age that has been set."

Commissioner of the Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI), Retno Listyarti conducted a direct review during the CPDB on June 14, 2022. She also revealed that many parents were worried about the PPDB selection using age as the main benchmark.

Apart from protesting about age, it is also because they cannot choose their favorite schools, which are usually of higher quality. There are many schools in Jakarta, but it doesn't guarantee that the quality will be as good. Many also feel that this zoning and age system makes those affected by it have to choose private schools where they do not receive funding from the government.

If you look at it, it is a negative thing for the community regarding this zoning and age system. So it is necessary to pay full attention to this policy so that people feel the same benefits.
