ZICO walks around campus.
Looks at the TRAFFIC.
Looks up.
At the GRAY SKY.

END CREDITS

EXT. BALAIRUNG'S ROADSIDE

He stops in front of the building.
Looks out onto the porch from a distance.
A female student is seen sitting and leaning against a pillar.

                                                        ZICO
                                                     (to her)
                               Hey...!!

She turns her head. TRIES to recognize him.

                                                        ZICO
                               See you in the next life!!

He WAVES her goodbye.
Walks again.

                                    FEMALE STUDENT (O.S.)
                               Wait...!!

He turns to her.
She JUMPS OFF. Sprints toward him.
He stops walking.
Turns to face the street.
Looks up.
At the DARK CLOUDS.

                                    FEMALE STUDENT (O.S.)
                               Philosopher!

His head turns. NOT LOOKING.

                                    FEMALE STUDENT (O.S.)
                               I want to see my groom!

He TURNS.

                                                        ZICO
                                                  (whispers)
                               INDAHSARI?!

INT. CHURCH'S ALTAR - DAY

SLOW MOTION:

The bride's tears CONSUME her.
She lowers her head.
Her hands REMOVE her wedding crown.
Her eyes ROLL BACK.
Her body COLLAPSES.

END SLOW MOTION.

SUPER: AN HOUR AGO

INT. CHURCH'S COUNSELING ROOM - DAY

INDAH, Raden, a female counselor, and a male pastor sit at a coffee table.
INDAH places A RING BOX on the table.

                                                      INDAH
                                                (raspy voice)
                               I accept full responsibility.

Without warning, she SITS on the floor.
Seiza-style.
FACING Raden.
Eye balls POP OUT. Staring at her.

                                                      INDAH
                                             (bows her head)
                               I have sinned. From the start.

Time STOPS.
The entire room FREZEES.

FIVE SECONDS LATER

The pastor and the counselor glance at the man.

                                                      RADEN
                                                     (to her)
                               INDAH...

Everybody's LOOKING at him.
But INDAH.

                                                      RADEN
                               I'll never forgive you...

Everyone BULGES their eyes.

                                                     RADEN
                               If you don't catch up with
                               that boy right now.

INDAH raises her head. Looks him in the eye.
He smiles to her.
GESTURES to the door.

                                                      RADEN
                               We all know he's your soulmate.
                               You two have our blessings.

She LOOKS at each of them.
They all smile and give her a nod.

EXT. BALAIRUNG'S ROADSIDE

INDAH runs over to ZICO.
Hugs him close.
He wraps his arms around her.
TIGHT like there's no tomorrow.

                                                      INDAH
                                       (whispers in his ear)
                               My soul's desperate for you!

                                                        ZICO
                                       (whispers in her ear)
                              INDAHSARI, are we in heaven?

She smiles.

                                                      INDAH
                                        (whispers in his ear)
                               No. We're still in Yogya.

The brand new couple GAZES at each other.

                                                      INDAH
                               Thank you for showing up for me.

                                                        ZICO
                               Thank you for standing up for me.

Their hands MEET.
Their smiles COLLIDE.
They swing their FEET.
Suddenly she stops.
TURNS to him.

                                                      INDAH
                               ZICO, what about mom?

SUPER: THREE YEARS AGO - CHRISTMAS EVE 1983

INT. MOM'S BEDROOM - NIGHT

DARK.
The curtain SLIDES OPEN a little.
Under the porch light, ZICO and INDAH are staring at each other.
Her hands are on his face. His hands grip hers.

INT. DINING ROOM - DAY

ZICO's mom goes ballistic.
STANDS UP.

                                                       MOM
                                        (gets in ZICO's face)
                               I'm not racist! I am rational!

They stare each other down.

                                                        MOM
                               You may be rich in knowledge
                               but poor in judgment!

She storms off.
In the hallway, her FOOTSTEPS stop.
She FREEZES.

                                                        MOM
                               I don't mind INDAH. But you two
                               are too young to be dating and
                               living together in this house.

SUPER: THE PRESENT

EXT. BALAIRUNG'S ROADSIDE

They continue to walk.
On his right, she holds his arm with her left hand and his forearm with her right hand.

                                                      INDAH
                               ZICO...

                                                        ZICO
                               Hmm?

                                                      INDAH
                               You don't mind?

He stops and turns to her.
Gives her the look of love.

                                                      INDAH
                               I am three years older...

He smiles.
TURNS to stand face to face with her.
LEANS IN close to her.
TAPS his head, then hers.

                                                        ZICO
                                                  I am taller.

She smiles.
He HOLDS her shoulders.

                                                        ZICO
                               I am stronger.

They exchange GRINS.
Walk again.
She RESTS her head on his shoulder.

                                                        ZICO
                               INDAHSARI...

                                                      INDAH
                               Hmm?

                                                        ZICO
                               You don't mind?

She stops and turns to him.
Gives him the look of affection.

                                                        ZICO
                               Waiting until I finish college...

She SMILES TO him.
TURNS to stand face to face with him.
PLACES her right hand on his chest.
Puts her left hand on her own chest.

                                                      INDAH
                               With you eternally mine,
                               I am never in a hurry--

SUDDEN SHOWER catches the brand new couple by surprise.
Both look up.

                             ZICO                                           INDAH
                 (half-whispers)                      (half-whispers)
          December...                                 December...

TURN their eyes upon each other.

                             ZICO                                                  INDAH
                       (lights up)                                         (lights up)
           Lovely weather for ducks...       Lovely weather for ducks...

The lovebirds BURST into laughter.
Walk up the OPEN ROAD together.
HAND IN HAND.
IN THE RAIN.
