SUPER: THE PRESENT

INT. SANCTUARY - DAY

THUNDER OF RAIN outside.
Inside is quiet. Not many people.
In the last row, INDAH and her fiance sitting together.
By the ENTRANCE.
PALE-FACED, she looks at everyone who enters.

EXT. BALAIRUNG'S PORCH - DAY

ZICO sits and leans against one of the pillars.
Mini headphones on his head.
He's looking up.
Staring at the FALLING RAIN.
At the SUNLESS SKY.

EXT. YOGYAKARTA'S TOURISM DESTINATIONS - DAY

GRAY.
DRIZZLY RAIN.
Taman Sari.
Sultan Palace.
Imogiri Royal Cemetery.
Parangtritis Beach.
Borobudur Temple.

INT. CHURCH'S COUNSELING ROOM - DAY

SOUND OF RAIN.
INDAH sits by the window.
Staring at the WOODEN CROSS on the wall.

                                  FEMALE COUNSELOR (V.O.)
                               INDAH, marriage is not a two-
                               way street. It's one and done.
                               Only once in a lifetime. So your
                               wedding vow should be sacred
                               to you, for it is sacred to God.

INT. LECTURE HALL - DAY

Not many students.
In the front, Restubumi and a female classmate sit together.
Reading books.
Adam approaches them.

                                                       ADAM
                               Restu...

The two turn.

                                                       ADAM
                               Did you see philosopher?

                                                RESTUBUMI
                               Philosopher? Who?

                                                       ADAM
                               ZICO.

They STARE at Restubumi.
She shakes her head.
LOOKS at him and her female classmate.

                                                      ADAM
                               I haven't seen him in a while.

Restubumi lowers her face.

                                                      ADAM
                               You know where he lives?

                                               RESTUBUMI
                               Pakuningratan.

The two STARE at Restubumi again.

                                               RESTUBUMI
                               But ZICO didn't say the number.

She lowers her face.
The two STARE at each other.

INT. PHONE BOOTH - NIGHT

RAIN outside.
ZICO sits in the corner.
Holding a phone to his ear.

                                               FELLOWSHIP
                                           PREACHER (V.O.)
                               ZI, I know you from middle school.
                               You have integrity. A thinker. A leader.
                               You're idealistic and cynical too.

The man on the phone STOPS.

                                               FELLOWSHIP
                                           PREACHER (V.O.)
                               Inside every cynical person,  
                               there's a disappointed idealist.
                               Now the idealist is disappointed.
                               Proclaiming that he's got love
                               for a girl walking down the aisle...

He PAUSES.

                                               FELLOWSHIP
                                           PREACHER (V.O.)
                               Got balls?

INT. ZICO'S ROOM - NIGHT

DOOM AND GLOOM.
In the corner, ZICO sits on the floor.
Wearing headphones
Leaning against the wall. Hugging his knees.
STARING at nothing.

INT. SANCTUARY - DAY

SLOW MOTION:

The wedding march "HERE COMES THE BRIDE" plays.
The bride and groom step in.
FLOATING down the aisle.
Everyone gets to their feet.
THE COUPLE smiles and nods.
RADIATING bliss.

EXT. BHAYANGKARA ROAD

In the rain, ZICO stands across the street.
Like A STONE.
Watching the procession
Witnessing the church doors CLOSING.

END SLOW MOTION.

INT. CHURCH'S ALTAR

The bride and groom stand with their sides to the guests.
The pastor is standing next to them.

                                                      INDAH
                                       (in her wedding veil)
                              "I, INDAHSARI, take you, Raden
                              Budi, for my lawful husband, to
                              have and to hold from this day
                              forward, for better, for worse,
                              for richer, for poorer, in sickness
                              and in health, until death do us part.
                              I will love and honor you all the days
                              of my life."
