SUPER: THE PRESENT - DECEMBER 26, 1983

INT. LIVING ROOM - NIGHT

POURING and THUNDERING outside.
ZICO walks up toward the front door.
Opens it.
A GIRL stands on the porch. Facing the street.

                                                        ZICO
                               INDAHSARI!!

He jumps out.
Wraps his arms around her.
EMBRACES her.
A lightning bolt STRIKES.

INT. ZICO'S ROOM - NIGHT

ZICO rises from bed.
GASPING for air. Looks around.
In the DARK. SILENCE.

EXT. RAYA ARJUNA STREET - DAY

ZICO stands across the street.
SCANNING the traffic.

INT. LAWANG MARKET, LAWANG, EAST JAVA - LATER

ZICO enters a market complex.
Speaks with the shop owners.
Gestures with his hands.
People shake their heads.
He stands at the gate.
SCANNING the incoming and outgoing shoppers.

EXT. THAMRIN STREET, LAWANG - NIGHT

ZICO sits inside a hawker.
Looking up at the rain.
Shivering. Staring at the street.
At the market.

SUPER: TWO WEEKS LATER - JANUARY 1984

EXT. SCHOOL'S FRONT YARD - DAY

ZICO sits alone on a bench.
Pondering like "The Thinker".
Lina walks through the gate. TURNS to him.
Staring at him.
All the way to the main entrance.

INT. SECOND FLOOR HALLWAY - DAY

Lina walks alone.
ZICO approaches from the opposite direction.
She quickly preens herself. Wears a smile for him.
ZICO lowers his face.
Not looking.

INT. CLASSROOM I-10 - DAY

Lina talks with an I-10 student near the entrance.
ZICO flips through a book at his desk.
Lina quietly looks at him.
STARING at him.
He's not looking.

SUPER: TWO YEARS LATER - THE PRESENT - 1986

EXT. DR SOETOMO STREET - DAY

Students in track uniforms running around the center park.
A man in a baseball cap sits in the middle.
STOPWATCH and CLIPBOARD in hand.

EXT. SCHOOL'S FRONT YARD - DAY

Seniors TAKE TURNS.
Standing.
Smiling.
TAKING graduation pictures.

INT. AUDITORIUM - DAY

Male and female students in school uniforms sit SPARSELY.
READING.
WRITING.
FLIPPING sheets of paper.
Two men and two women in uniform walk around.
WATCHING.

INT. LIVING ROOM - DAY

ZICO and his mom sift through a newspaper.
Five seconds later he SMILES at her.
She marks the line where he POINTS.
HUGS his shoulder.

                                                  ZICO (V.O.)
                               Test results were announced. I'm attending
                               Yogyakarta's "University of Gadjah Mada".
                               I'm glad my dream came true. But sad to leave
                               mom and Bi Iyem at home.

EXT. ZICO'S MOTORBIKE (MOVING) - DAY

ZICO rides his old motorbike.
Donning a new HELMET.
Wearing the GOLD NECKLACE with A CROSS PENDANT from Yuna.
He enters UGM COMPLEX.
Approaching BALAIRUNG, the central administration offices.

INT. LECTURE HALL - LATER

He peers inside a CROWDED hall.
Makes his way to the second row.
Takes a seat.

                                      MALE STUDENT (O.S.)
                               Hello...

A classmate to his right extends his hand.
Both exchange smiles.
Handshakes and nods.

                                ZICO                  ADAM

ZICO looks to the left. BULGES his eyes.
A classmate wearing glasses and a hijab SMILES at him.
She looks very familiar. Very SIMILAR.
To INDAH.

                                          FEMALE STUDENT
                                          (extends her hand)
                               RESTUBUMI.

EXT. LECTURE HALL'S PORCH - DAY

ZICO leans against the railing.
Looks inside.
At RESTUBUMI, who's chatting with her female classmates.
He keeps WATCHING her.
She NOTICES. Nods and smiles at him.
He RETURNS her nod. Smiles at her.

INT. BALAIRUNG'S EATERY - LATER

ZICO eats alone in the corner.
Watches Restubumi have lunch with her female classmates.
She NOTICES. Nods and smiles at him.
He nods. Smiles BACK at her.

INT. LECTURE HALL - DAY

ZICO and Restubumi sit in front of the blackboard.
Surrounded by three classmates.
They take turns delivering their presentation.
ALL students pay attention.

INT. RESTUBUMI'S LIVING ROOM - DAY

A KNOCK at the door.
Restubumi rushes to open it.
ZICO stands on the porch. Nods and smiles at her.
She greets him with A BIG SMILE.

                                                RESTUBUMI
                               ZICO, please come in.

On the couch, his three classmates WAVE to him.

                                               (waves back)
                               Evening, team!

Restubumi PEEKS inside.

                                                RESTUBUMI
                               Father... Mother...

A MAN in his fifties appears.
Followed by a WOMAN in hijab, 40s.

                                                RESTUBUMI
                                            (smiles to them)
                               Father, mother...

Restubumi QUICKLY turns. Smiles to ZICO.

                                                RESTUBUMI
                                             (to her parents)
                                This is ZICO, Restu's classmate.

ZICO nods and smiles to the couple.

                                           (to each of them)
                               Good afternoon, sir. Good afternoon,
                               ma'am.

Restubumi QUICKLY turns back to her parents.
Gazing at their eyes. ONE BY ONE.
