INT. ZICO'S ROOM - MORNING

A KNOCK at the door.
A pair of BARE FEET walks in.
ZICO's asleep in bed.

                                                INDAH (O.S.)
                               ZICO...

He opens his eyes.
Finds INDAH standing next to his bed.

                                                      INDAH
                               There are gudeg and geplak
                               on the table waiting for you.

He TAKES her hand.

                                                        ZICO
                               INDAHSARI...

                                                      INDAH
                               Hmm?

                                                        ZICO
                                        When you're in love...

They GAZE at each other in silence.

                                                        ZICO
                               That person will be the first
                               you kiss good morning--

She TURNS AWAY. Walks toward the door.
Suddenly PAUSES behind it.
TURNS to him.

                                                      INDAH
                                               (smiles shyly)
                               And the last you kiss good night?

INT. COURTYARD - DAY

ZICO and INDAH sit on the floor. Looking over his school bazaar photos.

                                                      INDAH
                               ZICO...

                                                        ZICO
                               Hmm?

                                                      INDAH
                               Every opportunity has an expiration
                               date.

His eyebrows furrow.

                                                      INDAH
                               A good looking girl like Lina
                               won't stay on the shelf for long.

                                                        ZICO
                               What should I do?

                                                      INDAH
                               Approach her. Talk to her.

He looks on.

                                                      INDAH
                                                    (leans in)
                               ZICO, you are also good looking.
                               Especially after a bath...

She nods TO him.

                               I'm sure Lina and other girls

She LOWERS her head.
ZICO notices.

INT. GROUND FLOOR HALLWAY - DAY

ZICO approaches the split staircase.
Abruptly STOPS.
TURNS his head toward the right alley.
Lina SITS on a male student's knee.

EXT. SCHOOL'S FRONT YARD - LATER

ZICO sits alone on a bench.
Lina and her boyfriend exit the main entrance.
HOLDING HANDS.

INT. CAFETERIA - LATER

ZICO enters the cafeteria.
Lina and her boyfriend share a drink near the door.

EXT. FRONT YARD - NIGHT

ZICO turns off his motorbike outside his fence.
The front door's open. The living room's light in on.

INT. LIVING ROOM

He LOOKS IN.
INDAH's boyfriend puts A NECKLACE on her.
She NOTICES. Instantly signals her boyfriend.
The couple gets up.
He smiles. Nods to ZICO.
Her face turns red like a cooked crab's.

                                                      INDAH
                                            (lowers her face)
                               ZICO, this is Heru.

                                                        ZICO
                              Hello.

He smiles at Heru.
He death stares at her.
Parks his motorbike in the corner.
Motions for them to sit. Walks in.
She WATCHES until he disappears.
Heru NOTICES.

INT. COURTYARD - DAY

INDAH eats alone on the floor.
Stares at ZICO's OPEN CURTAINS.

INT. DINING ROOM - NIGHT

"10:00" on the wall clock.
The TV's on.
INDAH sits on the floor.
A PREPARED MEAL on the table.

EXT. MR ALI'S STALL - NIGHT

ZICO sits alone in his school uniform.
Stares at the STARLESS sky.

SUPER: THREE DAYS LATER

INT. INDAH'S ROOM - NIGHT

She writes at her desk.
A KNOCK at the door.
She rushes to open it.
ZICO leans his head against the door frame.
Her eyes and face LIGHT UP.
She quickly preens herself.

                                                      INDAH
                                                  (whispers)
                               ZICO!

He hands her a CASSETTE.

                                                      INDAH
                                   (takes it with both hands)
                              Thank you.

                                                        ZICO
                              The second one's the best.

She flips the cassette.

                                                      INDAH
                               "Karma Chameleon"?

                                                        ZICO
                               Studying?
                                          (points at her pen)

                                                      INDAH
                                                     (smiles)
                               Writing a letter.

He stares at her necklace.
Turns around. Walks away.
She LOOKS ON.

EXT. BASUKI RAHMAT STREET, ZICO'S MOTORBIKE - DAY

ZICO sits on his motorbike.
Looking at the ACADEMY.
At the traffic.

                                   UNKNOWN FEMALE (O.S.)
                               ZICO...

SLOW MOTION:

He turns. His jaw DROPS.
INDAH stands close to him. SMILING SHYLY. With her short, neck-baring haircut, like "Halle Berry's".

END SLOW MOTION.

EXT. ZICO'S MOTORBIKE (MOVING) - MOMENTS LATER

He adjusts and readjusts his left REARVIEW MIRROR.
Peering at her face.
Her eyes catch his.
Both look away.
BLUSHING. SMILING.

INT. YOUTH FELLOWSHIP ROOM - NIGHT

ZICO and INDAH pass booklets.
Yuna approaches him with a smile.

                                                       YUNA
                               ZI, we'll see "The Outsiders"
                               tomorrow. You're in, right?

                                                        ZICO
                               INDAHSARI, I'll take you with me.

She turns to Yuna. Back to ZICO. SHAKES her head.

INT. DINING ROOM - DAY

Olivia Newton-John's "Physical" clip's on TV.
ZICO and INDAH watch together on the floor.
He QUIETLY watches her.
She NOTICES.

                                                        ZICO
                               With that hairdo, you seem a little
                               more beautiful than Lina--

She turns away. Blushing.

                                                        ZICO
                               But...

She quickly turns back.

                                                        ZICO
                                Lina is much more beautiful...

They look at each other.
Burst out laughing.
She playfully pinches his arm.

                                                      INDAH
                               ZICO, yesterday at class my female
                               teacher talked about body language--

                                                        ZICO
                               Body language?

                                                      INDAH
                               Yes. Our bodies don't lie. For instance,
                               if a girl likes you, she'll act that way.
                               Just pay attention.

                                                        ZICO
                               INDAHSARI, I thought you
                               studied English language--

She laughs.
He adjusts his posture.
FIXES his eyes on her.

He LOOKS at the contact.

                               Fourth, she compliments you
                               when you're looking good.

Out of nowhere, ZICO's blushing. Looking into her eyes.
MAKING her smile and blush.

                                                      INDAH
                               Fifth, she smiles at you and
                               blushes around you. A lot--

                                                        ZICO
                                         (points to her face)
                               Like this?

                                                      INDAH
                                               (points to his)
                               You too!

They bust out laughing.
Covering their faces.

EXT. PORCH - LATER

ZICO sits on his motorbike. Stares at INDAH.
She stands by the door.

                                                        ZICO
                               INDAHSARI, please come with me...

She shakes her head.

                                                        ZICO
                               Please... I never wanted to go--

                                                      INDAH
                               But you've promised Yuna--

                                                        ZICO
                               But I meant to take you with me--

She shakes her head again.
Touches her PENDANT.
He NOTICES.

INT. MOVIE THEATER - NIGHT

ZICO, Yuna, Dani, and George sit together.
Yuna quietly LOOKS at ZICO.
Her arm TOUCHES his.
LEANS on his.

INT. NEXT DOOR RESTAURANT - LATER

ZICO sits across from Yuna.
Listening to her.
Yuna begins to cry.

INT. DINING ROOM - DAY

ZICO talks on the phone. Facing the wall.
INDAH passes by. Looks at him.

INT. COURTYARD - LATE MORNING

INDAH eats alone on the floor.
Staring at an unfinished meal on a plate.

INT. DINING ROOM - NIGHT

ZICO talks on the phone. Facing the wall.
INDAH watches TV on the floor.
Stares at him.

EXT. BASUKI RAHMAT STREET, ZICO'S MOTORBIKE - DAY

INDAH gets off.
Approaches ZICO.

                                                      INDAH
                                                      (nods)
                               Thank you.

                                                        ZICO
                               INDAHSARI, I can't go to the
                               fellowship with you. Yuna asked
                               me to pick her up after school.

She nods.
Stands still until he DISAPPEARS in the traffic.

EXT. PREGOLAN BUNDER ROAD - DAY

INDAH sits in a rickshaw.
A motorbike passes on her right.

SLOW MOTION:

She turns.
It's ZICO and Yuna.

END SLOW MOTION.

INT. LIVING ROOM - DAY

INDAH opens the door.
Yuna's on the porch. Smiling in her uniform.
Both chat on the couch.
Yuna touches INDAH's necklace.
ZICO shows up in his uniform.
Sits next to Yuna.
INDAH lowers her gaze.

EXT. PORCH - LATER

ZICO and Yuna sit on the motorcycle.
INDAH stands at the door.
Staring at them.
Yuna waves her goodbye.
The freshman couple take off.
FLY AWAY.
INDAH's looking on.
IN TEARS.
