Starbucks Coffeehouse in Solo City

Solo or Surakarta is known as the home of Javanese culture which has been preserved through hundred years. No wonder, you can see many Javanese ornaments in every corner of this city. Thus, talking about Javanese foods and beverages, you can also easily find them everywhere; from food stalls on the street until luxurious restaurants. However, Solo also has many modern style spots  to offer for you. Modern coffee shops grow rapidly in Solo without affecting the life of wedangan (Javanese tea and coffee stall on the street). Both traditional and modern life are blended in harmony. One the modern coffee shops in Solo is "Starbucks", the popular coffeehouse chain from Seattle Washington. It is located in Solo Paragon Lifestyle Mall in Yosodipuro Street. This 140 meter square Starbucks is together with other 11 restaurants/stalls in food walk of Paragon. Starbucks Solo was just opened in the middle of August, 2012.

Yesterday, September 14, 2012, I visited Starbucks Solo with my Ukrainian friend, Vladislav Gorohovsky. We were also accompanied by two supervisors of Starbucks from Jakarta, Riko and Ageng. Both of them are in duty in Solo for 6 months for supervising the beginning operation of Starbucks in Solo. Unfortunately, since I came almost at 12 pm, the closing time for Starbucks Solo, I did not have any time to enjoy the coffees there. Rather than enjoying the coffee in hurry, I decided to experience drinking coffee next time. However, of course, I did not want to miss the opportunity to take picture there with my iPhone.

Starbucks has specific standard in organizing its coffee shop, including in arranging its interior. However, it still combines modern interior with the accent of Solo. It has bird cages as to ornament on its lamps. It reminds me the style of putting bird cage as the ornament of lamps in Ngarsopuro area, the square of Solo city. As many other Starbucks coffee shops, it also sell merchandises. Here, it has special merchandise, maybe it is only sold in Solo. It is the coffee cup with the writing of "SOLO".

Since I did not taste any beverages here, I could not yet review any product of it. So I just post the photos of the space here. Enjoy! :)
