The name at that time was not the Province of West Sumatera, but Government Sumatra's Westkust, divided into 3 residences. First, Padang Laut Residency (Padang Regency and its surroundings, Painan Regency, Pariaman Regency - includes Lubuk Basung and Tiku - Manggopoh Districts according to Dutch Administration including Lubuk Basung and Tiku districts, and Air Bangis Regency), Kadyua, Padang Darek Residency (Agam Regency - includes Oud Agam District, whose controller was L.C. Westenenk who was diabolical in the Kamang War on 15-16 June 1908, 50 Koto Regency, Tanah Datar Regency, XIII & IX-Koto Regency, Batipuh X-Koto Regency, and Lubuksikapung Regency. Third, Tapanuli Recidency.
