Entering the era of rapid technology, the use of social media in the world is very high. The development of technology, especially social media, not only has a positive impact but can also have a negative impact, using social media continuously  can endanger mental health such as frequent depression, stress, anxiety, and loneliness. Based on research by Twenge et al. 2018 in (Al Yasin et al., 2022) explained that respondents who reported spending more time at home and accessing social media with gadgets had a risk of depression until there was a possibility of committing suicide. Technological development will affect the development of social media, nowadays young children fulfill their play needs not by playing with peers in the field but by playing gadgets and opening their social media access. Most parents today will use social media to calm the child who is still at an early age, namely by giving access to the use of gadgets such as opening YouTube so that the baby is calm and comfortable, in research (Aviani, D., Latina, L., & Mulawarman, 2020) explains that at this age it is most sensitive and potential for children to learn something because of their enormous curiosity, given access like this will have impacts such as addiction to things that are not yet known, children's social interest will be low and potentially to uneducated impressions, so i disagree with the statement that being active in social media will improve mental, physical, and social health.

Mental health problems caused by social media addiction can also indirectly affect physical health. Excessive use of social media over a long period of time can also lead to addiction so that a person tends to delay sleep, resulting in insomnia. Not only that, the continuous use of social media will result in a decrease in sharp vision which will result in difficulties in daily activities. In addition, the use of social media also results in a lack of physical activity such as exercise which can lead to excess energy which then becomes fat stores in the body or obesity. Social media according to Andreas Kaplan and Michael Haenlein is an internet-based site that makes it easy for users to create and share experiences to be uploaded on social media, the word "sharing experiences" here can be a hoax, for example a famous influencer who is accustomed to inviting his fans to do or try things that he thinks are good, but in fact it is not true but the item turns out to be of poor quality, activities like this will harm many people and do not close our eyes we will all be tempted by information such information. Passive users who constantly monitor social media are at risk of negative emotions, such as FOMO (fear of missing out), while active users tend to seek external validation which can increase the risk of mental disorders. The FOMO habit knows no age level, anyone can be affected. Dependence on social media, especially among teenagers, leads to changes in communication patterns and social interactions. Excessive use can reduce direct communication and social skills so that teenagers often feel that social media is very cool than real life, the effects are sometimes high and excessive hallucinations so that the resulting effects are detrimental to themselves and others.

Social media can also be an effective tool for maintaining long-distance relationships and reducing loneliness if used wisely. It is undeniable that social media can be used to build positive connections that have similar interests and goals, besides that social media can also spread positive information, provide positive comments.

But unfortunately this is misused by some people, such as being a field for berating, bullying, physical commentary, and so on. This is better known as cyberbullying, where bullying is done repeatedly through social media. Someone who experiences cyberbullying will experience emotional distress and their behavior leads to loss of confidence, loss of zest for life, insomnia, depression, anxiety, loss of appetite. With social media and cyberbullying becoming more prevalent, it will reduce a person's physical, mental and social health.
