Lumi is a seven year old boy who is practicing archery with his father who is the King of the Mirai kingdom. Lumi is the King's favorite prince because he is the only child owned by the King. The people of Mirai also love their King very much because he is a good king. Unfortunately, most of Mirai's people don't really like Lumi because of he is arrogant.
While practicing archery there is a rabbit that keeps distracting Lumi's focus. His father ordered him to stay focused and not to care about the rabbit. However, Lumi who was already annoyed because his arrows always missed the target. He then purposely aimed the arrow at the rabbit. And pssuuuuut..... the arrow shot towards the rabbit and died because being hit by Lumi's arrow.
Then, there was a girl about 2 years younger than Lumi, her clothes looked a little shabby and dirty. She is looking for his lost rabbit. Then she saw the rabbit that was shot in front of her and then she cried. The king who saw it then tried to calm the girl and promised to give her a new rabbit. The king reprimanded Lumi and asked him to apologize but Lumi didn't want to.
"Why am I apologizing, it's the rabbit's fault for constantly distracting me!"
"But you shouldn't have shot it!" said the little girl angrily.
"Shut up you bad girl, you better go now and my father will send you a new rabbit!" said Lumi
“NO I DON'T WANT IT!! I just want my bunny, I've been taking care of it since It was born."
The girl then ran towards the kitchen and met her mother who turned out to be a cook in the palace kitchen. The king then apologized for what Lumi did.
After that incident the King met Lumi and asked her to apologize. However, again he didn't want to because he said they were dirty and poor, Lumi didn't want to meet them because they were dirty. The king, who was very disappointed with the attitude of his only child, finally found a way so that Lumi no longer behaved like that.
The next day, Lumi was summoned by the King to the Imperial Palace. He was given a roll of rabbit fur.
"Father what is this? Why did you give me a bunny fur?” asked Lumi confused
“That's the fur of the rabbit you shot yesterday. You have a mission today, O Prince." The King's Counselor said.
"What's that? Why did you give me this mission?”
"Because you have grown into an arrogant prince, son." Said the king's adviser.
“Now go to Mirai Forest and take these rabbit furs with you. If you want to come back here then don't be arrogant to anyone you meet until the sun goes down." Said the King.
"And if you fail, then come back when you have returned to your original form(body)." Said the King again.
"Okay father, I'll go now." Reply to Lumi.
Actually Lumi was a little confused by the mission that the King had given and why he had to take this lump of rabbit fur with him. But he had to keep going so he could return to the Palace. He had walked quite a distance and was in a village close to the forest. Most of the people here dress very simply. There were quite a number of children Lumi's age tending sheep.
Lumi was tired, he finally decided to sit in the field near the herding children. Lumi actually doesn't like this place, there are a lot of sheep and Lumi doesn't like their smell. Then, a shepherd boy approached him, he was sweating a little because it was quite hot today. The clothes are also a little dirty. Lumi glared at him, not wanting to see him.
"Who are you? I've never seen you here before." said the shepherd boy.
"Me? You ask me who? I'm a prince." replied Lumi proudly.
"Are you really a prince? But where are your soldiers and guards? I didn't see it, are you alone or are you just lying?" said the shepherd boy a little ignorant.
"If you don't believe me then go!" said Lumi who was trying to contain his emotions.
"I'm not leaving until you prove you're a prince." Say the boy again.
Lumi's face turned red, he couldn't contain his emotions anymore. “Go away you bad boy! You're just bothering me! I am indeed a prince! You don't recognize me because I've never played with poor people like you! Do you understand?!" said Lumi.
Lumi was about to go and leave the shepherd boy. Suddenly the sky turned dark and thunder rumbled. The lump of rabbit fur in Lumi's hand grew more and more like popping popcorn. The lump from his grip spread to Lumi's hands and entire body. A voice echoed from the sky “You promised not to be arrogant to the people you met. You failed in your mission and you must obey his orders (shepherd boy) until you return to your original form(body)."
Triiiiiiiing….. Lumi has now turned into a rabbit. The shepherd boy took Lumi to his hut. The hut looks comfortable even though it is only made of woven bamboo. Then the shepherd boy took Lumi to the side of his house, there was a simple and small cage. He put Lumi into the cage and gave him a carrot.
"I suggest you eat this, because tomorrow you have to work." Said the shepherd boy.
"I don't want, it looks dirty!" said Lumi.
"Well if you don't want to eat it, that's fine."
The shepherd boy then went into his house and never came back. The next day, early in the morning he came out. He saw Lumi was eating the carrots, maybe he was hungry because he hadn't eaten since yesterday.
"Are you ready to work?" said the shepherd boy.
"Can't you see I'm eating?!"
"Okay, finish your meal, I'll be waiting. Be a little nicer, so you can get back quickly.” He said with a smile.
After Lumi finished eating, he was taken out of the cage. The shepherd boy took Lumi to a farm.
“You have to keep these weeds from growing tall. You just need to take a walk around this farm.”
“I have to go to herd now, I'll be back in the evening. Stay here." Said the shepherd boy then left.
Lumi, who was in charge of guarding the farm, just walked back and forth in the garden. It was midday and the weather was very hot, he felt hungry and thirsty. He then left the farm to enter the shepherd boy's hut, but he remembered the shepherd boy's message that he stay in the farm. Until finally when the sun was almost setting he saw the shepherd boy coming with a smile. His heart was happy because he no longer felt lonely.
The shepherd boy then brought Lumi back to the cage and gave him a carrot. Lumi is also given a few carrots because he has worked well. The moon had given rise to its light, but it was slightly clouded by the clouds. Soon the raindrops soaked the ground. Lumi who was in the cage felt cold hoping someone would help him. But it's late, everyone must be asleep. Unexpectedly the shepherd boy came out and brought Lumi into the hut.
Lumi was touched by the shepherd boy's kind and warm heart. Inside the hut, he could see the shepherd boy's father was fast asleep.
"Why don't you sleep?" ask Lumi
"If I sleep, you'll be cold outside."
"Now go to sleep, I'm already inside." Lumi said sincerely.
"Okay, you should sleep too."
It has been 6 days since Lumi has been at the shepherd boy's hut and always does his job well. He is also now able to be kinder and sincere to others. In the evening, the shepherd boy returned to bring Lumi into the hut.
"Why did you take me inside? It's not raining outside." Ask Lumi
"Yeah I know, I just need a friend." Said the shepherd boy.
"Am I your friend?" Ask Lumi innocently
“Yes, you are my friend now, not now we are friends. Is not it?"
"Yes we are friends now." Lumi said with a smile.
Tonight Lumi sleeps very soundly, he feels comfortable. Even though it's not in the Palace, but he feels very comfortable. Maybe because he has friends now and his minds began to change. Slowly Lumi's arrogance began to disappear. He also becomes obedient when asked to do tasks.
The next day, Lumi woke up from her sleep. But......
He was shocked... really shocked.....
His body had returned to its original shape (body form). He then cried. He was happy and grateful to be back in the palace. However, he was also not willing to leave his friend.
He then went out looking for the shepherd boy, but he couldn't find him. He finally waited in front of the house and soon the boy came along with the King and the Counselor smiling.
“FATHER...!?” said Lumi happy
"You did it my son. You have returned” said the King proudly.
"You are no longer an arrogant child. Let's go back to the palace, "said the King.
"Wait Father...." Lumi then ran to hug the shepherd boy.
He thanked the shepherd boy for feeding him and being his friend.
Lumi also promised not to be arrogant anymore. He also often played with the shepherd boy. Even now he also has a new friend. Mirai's people also started to love Lumi because she had become a good child. A month after Lumi returned to the palace, the King held a big party and all the Mirai People gathered and had fun.
