INTERACTION OF DRINKING WITH BANANA

Drugs are substances or a combination of materials, including biological products used to affect or investigate physiological systems or pathological conditions in the framework of establishing a diagnosis, prevention, cure, recovery, health promotion and contraception, for humans.

The interaction of drugs and food is a serious problem that needs to be considered, because it can cause reactions to the side effects of these drugs and can also cause less than optimal therapy.

Drug interactions are the main factors that can cause Adverse Drug Interactions. Drug levels that are too high in plasma can cause adverse side effects. Conversely, drug levels that are too low can cause therapy failure. Drug interactions with food can be positive or negative. The risk of drug and food interactions increases if consumed at the same time.

Drug and food interactions are the consequences of a physical, chemical or physiological relationship between drugs and food or nutrients consumed either from food or supplementation. Food-drug interaction is a condition where the nutritional factors contained in food have a significant effect on drug therapy.

The phenomenon of how to take medicine that occurs in most Indonesian people is looking for food or drinks that can help reduce the bitter taste when taking medicine, such as tea, milk, rice, bananas and so on. Even though food or drink that is consumed together with the drug can cause food-drug interactions that can affect the effect of the drug on the body.

The reason why taking medicine shouldn't taste like a banana?

When taking medicine, some people usually use bananas to make it easier to swallow the medicine. In fact, bananas are not recommended for consumption with drugs!

Bananas are an excellent fruit that is often taken with medicine to help swallow and reduce the bitter taste of medicine, especially for some people who cannot take medicine with plain water. Some people use bananas with medicine to make it easier to swallow the medicine.

Basically the drug has a different content - different. The composition of the drug can give a reaction to bananas. This is why you can't take medicine together with bananas. Bananas contain minerals that can interact with drugs.

Banana is a fruit that is high in potassium or potassium. Potassium is useful in carrying out the function of heart muscle cells and keeping the heart beating. In addition, potassium also plays a role in carrying out the normal function of nerves and maintaining healthy muscles.

There are several reasons not to take medicine with milk:

1. There are interactions that cause the drug not to be absorbed in the body For example, some drugs, such as the angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) and angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors, which are used as blood pressure-lowering drugs increase potassium levels in the body. If you are using an ACE inhibitor or ARB class of drugs, your doctor will usually check your potassium levels regularly. In addition, when using this drug, it is also recommended to avoid foods that contain potassium, such as bananas. Some certain drugs have the effect of increasing potassium levels, if used together with bananas which also contain potassium, the potassium levels in the body will be higher which will have an effect on the work of the heart and be at risk for someone who has a history of hypertension.

2. Potassium levels that are too highc ause the performance of the drug to be not optimal.

What is Interaction? And what will happen if you drink milk after taking medicine?

Drug interactions with food or with drinks, one of which is bananas, are interactions that can occur due to the wrong method of unintentional use, or the patient's ignorance of the drug content. Drug interactions can cause several effects, including:

* Making the drug work increases or it becomes not optimal.

* Resulting in milder or worse side effects of the drug, sometimes it can even cause new side effects.

* Interfere with drug absorption, drug metabolism in the body, or drug excretion from the body.

It is important to know which drugs and foods should not be used together with the drugs you want to take so they don't interact. To prevent drug interactions from occurring, avoid using bananas together with drugs.

If you usually use bananas when taking medicine, let's start changing it, get used to using plain water so that drug interaction don't accur.
