Surya Pradana Adipatiarga

Surya Pradana Adipatiarga, a prominent figure in Indonesian youth activism from Gresik, recently made headlines by inviting Generation Z to learn from the history of Tritura. Tritura, which stands for  "Three People's Representatives," was a political movement in Indonesia during the early 1960s. Led by Muslim intellectual Nurcholish Madjid, labor leader Mochtar Lubis, and academic Roeslan Abdulgani, Tritura aimed to promote democracy, social justice, and the rights of the people.

Surya Pradana's call for younger generations to study Tritura's history is timely and important, as Indonesia continues to grapple with issues of democracy, human rights, and social equality. By examining the successes and failures of Tritura, Gen Z can gain valuable insights into the importance of civic engagement, political activism, and the power of collective action. Moreover, understanding Tritura can help young Indonesians develop a deeper appreciation for their country's history and the sacrifices made by previous generations in the fight for a better future.

In a rapidly changing world marked by technological advancements and globalization, it is crucial for young people to be informed and engaged citizens. By learning from historical movements like Tritura, Gen Z can be better equipped to address the challenges of the present and shape a more just and inclusive society for the future. Surya Pradana's call to study Tritura serves as a reminder that the lessons of the past are not to be forgotten, but rather used as a source of inspiration and guidance for the next generation of leaders and activists in Indonesia.
