Mathematics? What comes to our minds when we think of the word "math"? Maybe for most people, math is a scary subject. It is also seen from several studies on mathematics that people think that mathematics is something that is difficult, complicated, and boring. Mathematics is not just counting numbers or finding the area of a shape. beginning with how long the author spent writing this article. Not all math is difficult. There are examples of math that are easy to do, such as counting money. That might be simple for us. Maybe another example is when you're cooking. How much sugar to add and how long to cook the food are also included in the math. Or when you calculate your savings, it also includes math. As the Indian writer Shakuntala Devi, who is known by the nickname "computer man," put it, "Without math, there's nothing you can do." Everything around you is math. Everything around you is a number.

Then why do we need mathematics in our lives? That may be one of the questions that arises in your mind. In fact, Shakuntala Devi's statement is very true: without mathematics, there is nothing you can do. Why did it happen? Just imagine that scientists do not find a portion that is healthy and fit for us to eat. Maybe our bodies will be overweight, or vice versa. or if a dressmaker can't measure the clothes that will be worn and fit the couple. Then maybe the clothes that are produced are not good, such as being too long, very wide, or too narrow.

What are the benefits of studying mathematics? There are several benefits after we learn mathematics. The first, Improving the creative mindset. Mathematics can increase our creativity in working on the problems we face. For example, in doing math problems we don't have to rely on one formula, but the book can use other formulas related to the problems we are working on. Things like that can demand our creativity.

The second benefit, Mathematics Trains Us to Become Humans who are More Accurate, Thorough and Not Careless. Mathematics has a positive impact on our lives. We are automatically trained to be diligent, thorough, and careful by becoming accustomed to doing math problems carefully and thoroughly. For example, when working on a math problem, we learn to pay close attention to the graph, the number of zeros before or after the comma, and how they intersect. If we are not careful in observing the graph, entering numbers, and doing sums, it will be fatal, namely that the answer we get is wrong.

The third benefit, Mathematics Trains Us to Be Patient People. Mathematics teaches us to be more patient in our daily lives. When we try to solve math problems in a way that is very complicated and long, we must be patient and not easily give up. If there are steps that are not right, we should try to re-examine from the beginning to find things that need to be improved. After a lengthy process in which we were successful in resolving the problem, you must be satisfied and proud of your accomplishment, don't you?Like math problems, our lives, if lived with patience, will certainly bear sweet fruit.

The fourth benefit, Mathematics helps us think rationally and logically. In everyday life, a rational and logical mindset will help us control our emotions. Learning mathematics is a form of developing rational and logical thinking patterns that can be realized in everyday life. Mathematics logically provides great benefits in everyday life, including: Helping people to think logically, rationally and critically, Improve the ability to think carefully, abstractly and objectively, Improve the ability to think patterns independently and sharply, Help people do analysis about an event.

The fifth benefit, Learning Mathematics Trains Systematic and Critical Thinking. A systematic way of thinking is needed to deal with the various problems in our lives. Every problem can be easily solved with a systematic way of thinking. Mathematics can help us continue to practice forming a systematic mindset. By diligently studying mathematics, our brain will get used to solving problems with systematic thinking patterns.

The last benefit, Mathematics Helps Activities and Daily Work. Mathematics is always in related with many things in our daily lives. By learning mathematics, it will be easy for us to calculate profit and loss, calculate goods marketing activities, calculate savings and salaries, as well as calculate the estimated cost of electricity and water.

Mathematics is a science that helps us do things every day. Mathematics also helps in developing all the necessary technologies for the future. Therefore, we as the youth of the nation's generation must take advantage of this mathematical knowledge to develop our nation in the future so that our nation is more advanced than other nations.
