DAY I, Sat. April. 29:

•             Jakarta – Magelang by Bus (05.00pm – 06.00am à 13 hours)

Packed my things. Well, almost all my things as my picture.

At 3.26pm I popped up on the side of Batoe Toelis.  Gojekbike was immediately passing by and stopped. "Djuanda train station?" "Yep." "Jump on." Six thousand rupiahs and eight minutes later, I was on CL <sigh>  guess I was getting a late start.

By 3:40, I was on the commuter line — An hour later, the KWK T19 driver dropped me off at a roadside Pasar Rebo Traja Halte, where my journey would begin.

04.40pm arrived at meeting point:  Kios No. 73

05.30pm departed to Magelang

DAY II, Sun. April. 30:

•             Pick up by rental car @ Terminal Magelang

•             Swimming, Free Diving, Floating @ Sendang maren

•             Break time at Ketep Pass (having lunch)

•             Explore Pinus Kragilan

•             Start hike Mt. Andong

•             Summit Attack, Sleep, Zzzzz.....

06.00am arrived at Magelang. The first news i got was : floods in Sekar Langit, Magelang, one of our destination.

We had the opportunity to visit Sendang Maren, Pinus Kragilan as we make our way to the mountain.

07.40am a bus booked VIP 2-2 chairs including dinner and snack

08.30am departed to Sendang Maren.

from Magelang city turn right at Blabak traffict light. Just follow the way to Ketep direction.

At SMP N 1 Sawangan  you’ll find crossroad, then turn left.

06.30pm arrived at Sendang Maren, Sawangan, Magelang.

Its location on the riverside with flowing water calmly, and inside the village.

There is no set fee, just a charity box for sendang. The place is really nice shady trees, just like a pool, water sources flows from the pipe, the freshness of the water flowing, very clear and not really cold.  We have spent about two hours here. No shampoo and soap please.. Keep the cleanliness and sustainability,

At that time there were about 30 people there, <sigh> we should come earlier.

I didn’t need a privacy room, just took my skirt pants off, then with the national swimming athlete's style - wearing swimming goggles - I were swimming, free diving and floating in Sendang Maren...sometimes  I look at the rocks and the sand at the bottom, watching the dark moss on the wall, and go down at the bottom, touched the sand, say hello to fishes around me, but I don’t know why, even in the middle of many people still makes me shudder and I want to get to the edge quickly...

The myth that circulated in the community, Sendang Maren is a spring that is directly related to the South Sea. At certain times there will appear a whirlpool that sucks any creature that is around and sends it to the Sea. It may be somewhere under the sand that covers the bottom of Sendang Maren there is a gap to the cave.

Well, it might make sense, because as we know that the beginning of a cave is the flow of water that scrape karst rocks to find a way out. So maybe under this place there is a cave flowing into the South Sea. Huhu...it remains me about the greatest adventure "Sanctum" Yyyeah so when I watched this movie I must have been too young cuz now I have two phobias I didn't have before watching it, one for caves and one for deep water. Huh me

11.00am departed to Ketep Pass.

One word: MENDOAN hahaaa...

Ok ok, here is my story about Ketep Pass:

Forget about a mountain green landscape...it was a misty mountains there... :D just enjoy the real togetherness, hot mendoan brought us together actually, hehe :D the food was delicious, the conversation was lively.

The location of Ketep Pass is at the top of Bukit Sawangan (mid between Mt Merapi and Mt Merbabu). Ketep Pass is at an altitude of 1200 meters above sea level.

The price of admission to date is as follows:

Entrance Tickets Area and Museum: Rp12.000, - / person  = Rp84.000

Visitor Insurance Rp500, -/ person  = Rp3.500

Car Parking: Rp5.000, - / unit

Pembulatan: Rp500

We didn’t need to pay any properties here, just bring our own properties, like hammock, hat, woven colorful  blanket (rememba this: proud to wear clothes made from traditional Indonesian cloth is already included how to preserve it).

02.40 departed to Kampung Sawit, Girirejo, Ngablak, Magelang District, the starting point or Mount Andong hiking basecamp.

How Do You Get There?

Take the local bus from the South (Magelang) to the Ngablak market. It'll take an hour and a half and will cost ten thousand rupiahs. From Ngablak market, you could take a public transportation-- "angkot"--to the village, just mention Mount Andong.

You could also hire a private car, which will be 30 minutes faster, but it will also be much more expensive.

03.15 arrived basecamp

most of villagers house are Mount Andong basecamp...we were free to choose.

In a basecamp we started to repack our things, had some hot milk, had a rest and prepared our needs before hiking.

I had left my hammock,  swimming goggles, wet clothes, along with the rest of my journey stuff at Registration post in Sawit village.

In the fact the day was relatively quiet and cloudy, but beautiful nonetheless. I hope...

Mount Andong is a shield -type mountain in Central Java. 1.726 meters above sea level.

A  little bit serious trekking actually, it takes 1-2 hours trekking or 2-2,5 hours in rainy season (depend on u’r trekking style).

There are only 2 checkpoints throughout the path, use it well, but I thought that you can't stop too long, or your muscle will stiff.

Terrain: meadow and forest habitat, rocky, many twists and curves, some sections very steep (not for those with limiting physical or medical conditions)

Features: primarily passes through an pine forest, with views of downtown Salatiga, Magelang, Ambarawa & Solo, Mt Merbabu, waroeng located at summit

In addition, the springs are right on the edge of the track, where the water flows can be used by trekker.

05.00 Start Hiking

We were praying together as a team...

We were passing the pine forests along our hike...

We stopped for the 1st Post at 05.20pm

We stopped for the 2nd Post at 05.40pm

at 06:00pm —  I still could hear azan from below, some sunset, then turning cloudy with a thunderstorm around , remained me about Mount Prau a week ago...I was praying along my hike...

06.15pm dark night has begun, having flashlight is a must...

Alhamdulillah we stopped for the “soul peak” at 06:30 — just before camel's hump-Mount Andong's peak — after hiking 1,5 hours.

While I love nature, actually I'm not a fan of dealing with crowds in nature...this camp area as i saw at ig before, so crowded...

At campsite.  A big dinner of egg fried, vegetables, and hot tea relinquished my hunger.

The seven of us hit it off pretty quickly; we hiked together for a few hours until reaching Mount Andong's peak, our stop for the night. We traded stories and photos of todays until the lull of sleep called us to bed.

With base layers and sleeping bag - Kak Titin and Dona were much better-equipped than me. In an effort to travel light, I had only packed the essentials: one jacket inner columbia, a lightweight heattech, a balaclava, and the softshell pants, socks and lightweight hiking slippers that I was wearing without warm gloves.  Fortunately sleeping at Mount Andong is not as cold as cold in Mount Prau. I was asleep by 08:00. cold air, dark night, bright star ((^_^)) zzzZZZZz……

DAY III, Mon. May. 01:

•             Enjoy the sunrise moment at Mt Andong Peak

•             Head back to the Basecamp

•             Have a rest at Basecamp

•             Back to Jakarta

05.00am the valley was beautiful in its own right, but golden sunrise adds a certain degree of magic to every environment. The hill where i was standing, was surrounded by some mountains, we could see Mount Sumbing and Mount Sindoro Mount Merapi and Merbabu. Rays of light danced through the passing clouds.. really enjoyed the sunrise moment...It was paradise.

We explored the area a bit longer and took pictures at camel's hump-Andong Peak before heading down cross the devil's bridge (you can see it as the back of a cow) “geger sapi”.

Be carefull while crossing the bridge, because the width is only about 30cm.

And the last is finally, we were on the other side of the peak “Alap-alap”

And it started to feel hot because of the sun, so we back to our tents.

Up at eight. Ate a breakfast of instant food (spaghetti) with hot tea — a trekker's staple.

Then we go back down,  head back to the basecamp. Along the way I met a woman wearing the niqab.

11.00pm Alhamdulillah arrived at basecamp.

In a basecamp we started to repack our things, had some hot tea, had a rest and prepared our needs on bus.

We went to Ngablak market by bike.. took a public transportation to Magelang.

one-hundred sixty five rupiahs (Handoyo Bus) and 12 hours later, I arrived at Pulo Gebang.. bye everyone..thanks a lot, Stay safe and be wise journers, guys!

Hiking Essentials

1). To conserve our wonderful natural resources at Mountain Andong, please practice Leave No trace principles when out on a hike.

You can help protect this special place by traveling on pre-existing trails, disposing of waste properly, respecting wildlife, and leaving what you find.

2. Consider purchasing a pre-assembled first aid kit. Trails can be slippery when wet and they often vary in terrain. It's better to be safe!

3. Carry at least one bottle and some food that provides energy, such as nuts or fruit. Be sure to hydrate prior to start of the hike

4.  Wear hat and apply sunscreen to prevent sunburn. UV rays are harmful even cloudy days, so plan accordingly.

5. Pick up a Trail Map. Connecting trails can take you different areas, just be sure to know where you are going!

6. The best kinds of memories are those spent with family and friends, so get everyone together and go explore!
