In the last 1 month, I have been grateful for the recovery of COVID-19 in this country as well as in my region (most regions, not all).
Traveling and outdoor activities just got better and more comfortable.
So far, I have visited several cities, worked in the office (2 days a week), over coffee, met friends, entertained guests, etc.
I also really appreciate the way we work remotely in the last 2 years.
Going forward, from my personal point of view, I prefer a hybrid working model (which has been proven to be more effective in several aspects when working).
However, after all the experiences we've had over the past two years, I realize that face-to-face interactions are still the best for the following aspects:
(1) Discuss/brainstorm complex and challenging topics
Often in our professional and personal contexts we need to use difficult & sensitive topics.
In a face-to-face context, we can feel the atmosphere and non-verbal signals. Brainstorming through a "physical whiteboard" activity is great too!
(2) Build trust and connection
This point does not require long elaboration. All the coffee/breakfast/lunch/dinner chats in the last few weeks have been absolutely awesome!
I physically met some partners, colleagues & friends for the first time.
I'm gaining a better and more holistic understanding of them (perhaps more from our bold encounters over the past two years).
(3) Share deep motivations & aspirations
Even with professional colleagues, I have the opportunity to talk/discuss in depth about: meaning of life, goals, learning & personal development, long term aspirations, family life, key motivational factors, etc.
Personally, I really appreciate all these meaningful conversations!
