Volodymyr Zelensky and his supporters celebrate winning Ukraine's presidential election | Pict: bbc.com

Russia's attack on Ukraine today (3/26/2022) entered the 31st day after the first attack was intensified by the red bear country. No one can answer with certainty why Russia has not been able to control the Ukrainian capital, namely Kiev and the entire territory of the country, even though this is not something that becomes an obstacle when we look at the weapons of the two countries which are quite unequal.

Efforts to discuss peace have already been proposed, during a previous meeting between high-ranking officials of the two countries who met at the Belarusian and Polish border.

In the negotiations, it was stated that Russia's representatives were led by President Putin's aide, Vladimir Medinsky. Meanwhile, the Ukrainian delegation was led directly by Defense Minister Alexey Reznikov.

The delegations of the two countries returned to their respective countries to convey the results of the meeting, but so far they have not yet produced peace for both parties.

This is very unfortunate considering that quite a number of areas have been destroyed, both infrastructure and casualties on the military side of the two countries, and there are even strong suspicions about civilians.

Unclear information and even indications of fake news are also suspected to be scattered in extreme media, social media to credible media. This is very unfortunate, plus the Russian information media is also boycotted in many countries in the European Union and America.

So that the official news broadcast by the official Russian government media is not conveyed directly to the public who want to know balanced information from both parties.

However, my focus here is not discussing hoax news and negotiations from the two disputing countries.

My focus is centered on the Ukrainian president Zelensky, who until now has chosen to continue fighting Russia and does not want to give up, even though quite a number of military and civilian installations have been destroyed and controlled by Russia.

Zelensky, who in his career is known as a comedian, voice actor, and actor with many comedy genres, is enough to make Ukrainians interested in watching each of his performances.

In fact, his acting in several films is enough to make his name soar and become a byword throughout the former Soviet Union.

Until finally in 2019 Zelensky registered as a Presidential Candidate for Ukraine until he was finally elected to that position, which was quite surprising to many people including the international community, considering that his capacity and capabilities in the political world were not yet qualified.

Zelensky's election as the number one person in Ukraine on the one hand is enough to make the democratic climate there even stronger, where someone who is not from the elite can also become President.

However, there are many choices and the political steps he has taken have not had a significant impact, so it is also quite unfortunate by many groups and the community, including the steps taken at this time.

Zelensky should have carefully analyzed Ukraine's move to join NATO and the EU as an appropriate step.

However, it turns out that this step is like a double-edged sword that is currently making the people suffer and flee to many buffer countries around them.

Reading the existing geopolitics, Zelensky should be able to play a role in the region as a party that is really needed by the two ruling parties in Europe, namely the United States and Russia.

If only Zelensky did not gravitate towards one side as it is now, there would probably be a lot of positive impacts that would be enjoyed by Ukraine.

Zelensky can follow the example of a great leader in the 50-60s era, namely Soekarno, who played a cold war between the western and eastern blocks at that time by creating a new block, namely the Non-Aligned Movement.

If only Zelensky could think and act like that, surely the loss they are currently experiencing would not have happened.

That's why being a leader is not easy. Few of them could have succeeded without so much experience and previous political processes.

However, to become someone who can think calmly and wisely in making a policy, that person must go through every process, from a small scope, group, class, region to finally leading a nation.

Being a reliable politician does not have to be studied academically in schools directly, but it would be good and mature when it also starts from small things so that the considerations taken can be studied and the results can be used when needed in the future.
