Pemoeda Kaoem Betawi or Pemuda Kaum Betawi is a youth organization for Betawi youth which was founded in 1927. This organization is chaired by Mohammad Tabrani. Another figure involved is Mohammad Rochjani Soe'oed.
Until the end of 1926, there was still no special place for Betawi youth organizations. So many Betawi youths joined Jong Java and Sekar Rukun, because they felt they were allied.
However, as time goes on, they feel the need to have their own place, especially for Betawi youth. Finally, the Pemoeda Kaoem Betawi organization was formed.
History carved Pemoeda Kaoem Betawi together with youth groups on behalf of their respective regions such as Jong Bataks Bond, Jong Celebes, etc. gathered and united to hold a congress until one of the most historic events in this country, the Youth Pledge of 1928, was born.
The Youth Pledge remains relevant to the condition of the nation which is filled with various complicated problems to be overcome until now. In this context, the Youth Pledge must still exist and really need to be actualized.
If a young man aged 21-22 does not struggle at all, has no aspirations, does not work for his homeland and nation, it is better if this youth has his head shaved - Ir. Sukarno.
Without a form of awareness, militancy and willingness to sacrifice from young people for the birth of a country, independence is certainly difficult to achieve.
Ideals always require sacrifice, even though sometimes it is not comparable to the results achieved. The long process of struggle for an independent Indonesia has spilled a lot of blood and countless other forms of sacrifice and value.
Awareness requires the realization that struggle and sacrifice must go hand in hand to achieve national goals. The former youth militancy must remain a spirit in the present era.
As an oath, the spirit of the Youth Pledge must be able to become an emanation for the lives of contemporary youth who are far more educated than the younger generations of their predecessors.
The spirit of defending the country If we reflect on the Youth Pledge, it is still very relevant to today's conditions. The actualization of the Youth Pledge is a metamorphosis that can be used as a social driving force to strengthen the joints of our nationality which are felt to be eroded by various problems.
When our national territory is under threat from foreign parties, the solidity of the nation is disrupted due to political, social and cultural differences that affect our Indonesianness. Multidimensional problems seem difficult to decipher because we have lost the spirit of togetherness as a nation.
The high number of corruption, the behavior of state officials who are not commendable, divisions, violence among the nation's children make us lose the spirit of nationalism. We may need to reflect on what Amrtya Kumar Sen said, "Join the past to build a new."
We have to remember the roots of the past about the sincerity, straightness of intentions and high morals of the founding fathers of the nation. We need to remember the responsibility of the founding fathers of the nation, because every time we make difficult decisions related to state/national issues, it is always based on pure intentions and a pure heart full of selfless sincerity.
Nearly a hundred years ago, we -- the youth -- were able to unite the differences of various regions -- into one - in our own way, the way of the youth.
