I don’t really watch many Hollywood or western movies. My main source of entertainment comes from East Asian like Japan. I really like Anime and Japanese movies but I’m a fan of sci-fi genre, especially one that include aliens on it. So, when it comes to sci-fi genre I don’t really care about the source, as long as it provides me with a good logical story.
Let’s jump to the introduction of the movie. It’s titled UFO and released on 2018. The story is about Derek Echevaro, a young man that interested in UFO. He became interested in UFO because when he was a child, he saw an UFO. At the present time, an incident occurred at the Cincinnati International Airport. It’s about an UFO sighting above the airport. The incident then become the trigger for Derek to prove the existence of extraterrestrial object or extraterrestrial being such as UFOs and aliens.
Derek needs guidance and assistance in his way to prove the existence of the UFO he saw. The first thing that he wants to proof was the UFO sightings in the Cincinnati Airport. The footage is spread among the people there via social media and word of mouth. The government made a denial statement about it, and forced the witness by any means necessary.
The situation are so difficult (because of the government action) for Derek to acquire some information for his progress, so he seeks assistance to his girlfriend, a friend, and a math professor.
Later on, with the information he gathered from the witnesses and the sound that recorded in most radio electronic gadget in that town, he was able to find some clue about it. The math professor, named Dr. Hendrick, is also a lecturer on the university that Derek attends. Derek with his girlfriend tried to calculate the footage with some mathematics formula and find that the UFO footage was happened to be a real event.
The next clue he has already on his hand are the voice. A weird sound of static radio waves was recorded on every footage that was in that town. The platform is differed, but the static waves come 100% and are the same.
Derek believes that the sound was a code or message left behind the aliens. The point of this writing is coming. Technology is the key point on this movie. The calculation of the UFO size on footage as proof of the truth are the product of technological advance upon education. The math professor is the ‘guides’ for Derek. Dr. Hendrick provides some formula for him or at least clues for him to tinker to. The aspect of technology and educational content in this movie was well written. The progress of Derek to reveal the truth behind government also supported by the technology that the human race had that time.
All the event on this movie are happened in 2017, so the techs are not much different from this day. There are social media interaction between character, and many behaviors including the technologies related thing are not much different. Calculator also a form or I considered as technology. Imagine if in 2017 the main character has to calculate that extremely hard code formulas without a calculator! He would miss the plot that leads to the advancement of human race.
And that is the end. When technologies advances one step it will lead human knowledge leap forward. Human knowledge are based on their technology, so it will always be a straight line advancement between techs and education.
