In a village, lived a husband and wife. Every day they work as secondary crops. Although life is very simple, they are always willing to help the neighbors as much as they can. They never complain in doing something good for others, even though life is not always more. Everyrhing they do, they do with pleasure and willingly.
One night, the husband could not sleep because his heart was very restless. When he turned to his wife who was fast asleep, he was very surprised. A centipede whose body glowed white came out of his wife's head. A centipede slithered down and out of the house. Feeling curious about this animal, the husband finally followed where the centipede went. After being followed, it turned out that the centipede had entered a small hole near his house. And did not come out again.
The next morning, the husband told his wife about the strange incident. "I had a strange dream last night. I like being near a lake. Suddenly, I saw a giant hedgehod in the middle of the lake. The hedgehog has golden yellow hair. Does this dream of mine have anything to do with what you saw last night? Maybe that could be a good sign. How about we look at the hole where centipede is hiding?" the wife's suggestion was immediately approved by the husband. "That's right, come on!" said ber husband. This husband and wife approached the hole where the centipede had disappeared.
Arriving there, the husband put his hand into the hole where the centipede had entered last night. Inside the hole he felt his hand touch something, then he pulled it. The husband and wife were shocked because the object obtained from the hole was a hedgehog statue made of gold. "Let's just take this hedgehog statue, who knows it will bring good things to us," said the wife. They also keep the hedgehod statue well.
One day, the wife intends to sell the hedgehog statue. "Just be patient, let's just save it for now. Who knows if there are any clues about the hedgehog statue," the husband refuge calmly. Then at night, the farmer freamed dreamed of being visited by a giant golden hedgehog. "Sir, let me stay with you. I promise to grant all your wishes," said the hedgehog. "How to?" asked the husband. "Just stroke the head of the hedgehog statue and ask for something, then end it by stroking it again, and your wish will be granted. I will teach the incantations," said the giant hedgehog. The giant hedgehog said his incantations, then the husband memorized them.
The next morning, he woke up and told his wife about his dream. Then, the farmer did exactly what the giant hedgehog had said in his dream. "Give me a lot of rice," said the farmer who then closed it again with incantations. Miraculously, grains of rice flowed from the mouth of the hedgehog statue. Then the farmer repeated the chant, then asked for jewelry and basic necessities. The hedgehog statue fulfills all his requests. The husband and wife became rich. They share it with all their neighbors, so that village life becomes better.
The farmer's wealth lures a robber to come snooping around. Finally, the robber found out where the wealth came from, and how to get it. That night, he stole the hedgehog statue and took it to his village, Ngabang Village. The village is experiencing a drought. In fact, there is no longer any basic water needs. The robber proudly gathered the citizens, "Calm down, brothers. I will save you from this drought," said the robber. Then he stroked the hedgehog statue and recited the incantations he had heard at the farmer's house. Instantly, torrential water gushed from the mouth of hedgehog. People rejoice.
However, the water continued to flow rapidly until it unandated the village. The robber could not stop the satatue, because the incantation to stop the request was unknown to him. Finally, the statue of the hedgehog kept on releasing water until Ngabang Village sank. The water flows out of the village which then becomes a big river. By local people, the river is named Sungai Landak. Sungai Landak flows in the middle of Ngabang City, Landak Regency, West Kalimantan.
