Listening as Important Step in English Language

      

    As we know, there are four basic skills in language. It is reading, speaking,  writing, and listening. All of those skills are very important and they relate to each other. But despite all the skills listening is the most basic skill in language. listening is the first step for us to learn a language. Since we were just born we got knowledge and learn with listening. We learn how to speak by hearing people's pronunciation and intonation, we learn how to read and write by listening to the person who teaches us. Developing strong listening skills offers numerous benefits that are essential for academic, professional, and personal growth. That is why listening is a very important skill for us in language here are some benefits of listening skills:

• Improve pronunciation and intonation

By hearing other people's accents and intonation while speaking in English we can learn the correct pronunciation and intonation. By carefully observing native speakers' accents, intonations, and pronunciation, we can mimic these qualities, gradually sounding more natural. The process of listening and then trying to speak or imitate helps perfect our pronunciation and make us speak more fluently.

• Enrich vocabulary

While we listen to music, converse on TV, or people talk, we can find many unfamiliar words, so we can get a lot of new vocabulary. It means by listening we can enrich our vocabulary and help us remember the words better.

The more often we listen to English, our ears will become accustomed to the pronunciation and the meaning.  Listening allows us to understand and speak English in life. by practicing active listening, we can improve our ability to comprehend the language's accent, pronunciation, and intonation.
