Why Indonesian Student Movement Always Fail?

It's been more than 26 years after the riot, when miltary government role by Soeharto's regin has fallen. Indonesia instanly entering a new era of democary. But after all dynamic of nation. We found ourself on degredation of democary and double standart of society for democracy itself. in June 31 2024 we have lost our index of democary from 62 point on 2019 decress to 53 point on 2023. Indonesia people has facing serious problem for their democracy and freedom. Oligarkh and Coruppution become catalyst for this diseases of society, if we remember what Lord acton has been talk about power.

It's happen on Indonesia, when we lose our meritoracy system, law supremacy, and moral of charge on society. The power of oligarch getting bigger and we can do nothing about this. Because all the instrument for middle-low society to reach the power has been cut by the system so it's make Indonesian chance to change the status quo.

            There are many of literacture, journal, and sourvey to explain how dumbest Indonesian student and how poor educational system of Indonesia. If we compare our education system than our neighbors like Singapore, Australia, New Zealand, or maybe Malaysia. We found ourself why our education left behind than any other nation on region. The writter been thinking than we not too much if we said our nation become sick man of South east Asia. We have poor education, poor Health care, Public transportation, and the worst thing is about student movement.

            Student movement become important on part of history of this Nation because most national event has start from student movement. If we talking about how Soekarno reign fell, Soeharto reign fell, and Gus Dur Fell. There is Student movement iniator it, but if we talk after 2019 specifically on Jokowi's Reign. We never heard about that anymore. If we talking about student movement from 2019 until 2024 there's a lot of student movement.

            For this time we are not going to explain or make analysist for those but we can mention few of them. On the issue start from Tolak RUU Cipta kerja, RUU KPK, Kenaikan BBM, and ETC. We not really get any impact or result of Negotiation between elite and student. The reason what student movement has been stagnan in year after years. At least we analiysis the problem of student movement had 2 fundamental reason: not Independent and no relevant.

            First thing we have say student movement not independent anymore, Right now Student movement iniator by Organitation External Organisasi Kemasyarakatan dan Kepemudaan called by OKP. OKP have many influence to Student council, Student excecutive board, and many of them. OKP successfully to spread their member on every student organitation as leader or just person on charge in organitation. How could it be? Its belong to how their win the election. When Student going to election those are more than just "idea or giving someone position" to make a term, but for mobilize many people there's money and that a lot. Lot for student who afford by their parent expect they are Bobby Saputra son of Indonesia Millioner. Not they are not! Around 5 million to 40 million rupiah spend to election. Depend on what collage it is. If they are strong collage with influence to social or political movement. Sure it will spend more than that. But the question is where they got the money? How they can have the funding?

            We will thinking maybe they get donation from team, is that so? Or just joint venture among the team for win election? What do you think you student want to spend your monthly money from their parents to win someone else. This is how OKP played. They have so many relation to people who graduated who become politician, entrepreneurs, Etc. They collect funding from their alumni and have strongest funding than any student organitation who fight on the election. And what their senior return?

            Here is thing. When their candidate won the election every political policy depend with their sponsor. Let make example when US president candidate get funding from Jews Community or from Israel Lobby. What going on on foreign policy of US? Absolutely support Israel whatever it takes. They spending lot of money from US citizen to afford Israel Milltary genocide in Palestine occupancy. And that what going on in Student movement. Leader of student movement will never punch their sponsor or their master.

            The Second thing, inrelevant. A mounth ago. Europe has been shocked by Labour party in United Kingdom (UK) and Left Party in France won the election. Why this happen? UK and France also know as one of center of capitalism in west Country. How they literally let Leftish party want the election? Let's see characteristics of the society in western culture for many of them they facing society based on materialism like income, Healthcare, Immigrant, etc. Incumbent like Prime Minister of UK Rishi Sunak can't catch issue more effective. As a conservative Sunak did the old way like withholding tax for upper income, raising fuel, and the worst thing is suppor Israel genocide. We don't need to explain Israel genocide too much, but the main point is when support to Palestine has mobilize in all country. Sunak stand with Israel, when his people have gaining sympathy with Palestine people. Labour party become the alternative for that they bring "hope", Keir Starmer always talking about his experience as "son of labour". He got sympaty from majority cause we know UK have a big problem with immigrant and walfare for worker. They mobilize the populist issue to gaining support and vote in election. Same as in UK, Election in France, after make coalition with Marcon's Faction to face Right extream. Leftish movement using all populist issue and joining in "free palestine" movement and get absolute win on the election.

            What happen on Europe give us a leasson, every movement need 2 fundamental requirement "Accident and sympatic". When accident happen is mean nothing if you don't get any sympatic from the society. Reformasi success because student can mobilize society to joining the protest and it same with "212" movement to impeachment of Governor Jakarta Basuki Thjaj Pratama. Student don't get sympatic in massive from the society. This become a big problem of every movement, if student fix with this problem. Student movement will irrelevant day by day and we will lose the essential of "Agent of Change".
