Riftia pachyptila akan mencapai kematangan seksual sebelum 2 tahun (Lutz dkk., 1994). Siklus hidup Riftia pachyptilai bisa dikatakan singkat karena kondisi lingkungannya yang rawan berubah karena keadaan alam (Bright & Lallier. 2010).
