As we know, GOAT is "the Greatest Of All Time" or "Best Of The Best". It can be in any field... sport, movie, book, philosophy, music, etc. I'm personally not sure who the first person introduced this term was, but it can be easily found every where nowadays, especially on internet. It seems that the term of GOAT can be very subjective. But, of course it can be objective too if that term was delivered based on specific data or reliable source. In this short essay of mine, I'd like to write something about the GOAT in music.

I got an info from internet showing the 20 Best-Selling Music Artists of All Time. Yeah... it seems they can be categorized as GOAT too. This rank might be made not so long ago so that I assume it's still relevant today. To be honest, I know most the names of  these artists. Only few of them that I don't recognize very well, such as Garth Brooks (number 2) and George Strait (number 11). Judging from the way they look, it seems that both of them are from country music. In other words, this list might be likely made in US, then.

On the top of this list, it's the Beatles. Yes, I'm sure many of us know this band although might not be their fans. I personally just know some of their songs, such as Let It Be, Yesterday, Hey Jude, and Michelle. According to this list, Beatles already sold 178 million copies of their albums in US... wow. Number 3 is Elvis Presley. He's famous as "The King Of Rock n' Roll". I'm not his fan. I just know very few of his songs, such as Jail Rock and Are You Lonesome Tonight. Number 4 is Led Zeppelin. I just know that this band is one the pioneers of heavy metal genre. I don't know much about this band and their songs.

Next, number 5 is Eagles. I just know one song from this band, that is Hotel California. It seems that this band is very famous in US, but not outside that country. Number 6 is Billy Joel. I just know one great song of his from 80's that's very famous till today... yes, Uptown Girl. Number 7 is Michael Jackson. No need to introduce about this "King Of Pop", right? Some of his songs I like best are Beat It, Billy Jean, Bad, and Black Or White. Next, number 8 is Elton John. I don't know much about him. Only one song I like best... Nikita. Number 9 is Pink Floyd. Its genre is progressive rock, if I'm not mistaken. One of their best song world-wide known is Another Breaking The Wall. Number 10 is AC/DC. It's definitely a rock band. I know some of their tracks, such as Who Made Who and Hard As A Rock.

Barbara Streisand is number 12. All I know she's well-known for her slow songs. Therefore I don't know her much. Next, number 13 is The Rolling Stones. To be honest, I don't like this band. So I don't know much about their songs either. Maybe only song I Can't Get No Satisfaction that I know. Carry on... next is number 14. Aerosmith is also a band that I'm not familiar with. Maybe only song I Don't Want To Miss a Thing is the best known world-wide, outside US. Next is Bruce Springsteen at number 15. This guy is really famous in US, especially after releasing his album titled Born In USA. I just like one of his songs called Dancing In The Dark. Madonna is number 16. She's also known as "The Queen Of Pop". She has so many hit songs that make her popular around the world. Some of her songs I like best are Material Girl, Papa Don't Preach, and La Isla Bonita.

OK, let's go again... to number 17. Mariah Carey is on this list. She has similar music genre of pop music to Whitney Houston (number 19), in my opinion. That's why I'm not very familiar with. Only song I Wanna Dance With Somebody of Whitney's I like best. Who is number 18? Don't skip it... haha. OK, it's Metallica. It seems that this is the only metal band on the list so far. According to this data, Metallica has sold out 63 million copies in US... wow. I'm not a fanatical fan of this band. But... yeah, their Black Album is really phenomenal. Enter Sandman, Sad But True, and Unforgiven are some songs from that album. The last on the list is Van Halen. It's a rock band. I myself only like two of their albums... OU812 and Balance. Their most famous track is Jump from their previous album. OK, that's all. Maybe next time I'll write something more metal and brutal... haha, just kidding.
