According to Ideaphone, the name ‘Zotero’ is loosely derived from an Albanian verb meaning “to master.” It is free, open source reference management software to manage bibliographic data and related research materials (such as PDFs). It is easy-to-use research tool that helps you gather and organize resources, in bibliography or the full text of articles. It then lets you to annotate, organize, and share the results of your research. Zotero includes the best parts of older reference manager software (like EndNote), the ability to store full reference information in author, title, and publication fields and to export that as formatted references, and the best parts of modern software such as del.icio.us or iTunes, like the ability to sort, tag, and search in advanced ways. Using its unique ability to sense when you are viewing a book, article, or other resource on the web, Zotero will find and automatically save the full reference information for you in the correct fields. So far, it functions as an add-on for the Firefox web browser only. The infographic of Zotero is below (source).

Here are two videos of how to use Zotero: Introduction to Zotero and Zotero Tour. While on the go, you can store and keep updating your collections using online snyc or hard drive, like MS Synctoy or Sugarsync. For more information about this, please read this post. For more information about Zotero, please read here and here. You can download Zotero here and learn the tutorials here. Have a try and be inspired fellow learners! ©mhsantosa (2012) I am happy to share this. Please feel free to reblog or share the link, all with my accreditation. Thank you.
