i suddenly remember manic street preachers "australia", when i woke up this morning.  i listened to this song when i was in junior high school, and when i watched it again just now on youtube, it hypnotized me still. when the music start you'll be energized, and the lyrics to me is an invitation to escape for a while from the trouble we had. here, catch the lyrics and be sure to watch it here http://youtu.be/EG3fou1E6os

"Australia"

I don't know if I'm tired and I don't know if I'm ill

My cheeks are turning yellow

I think I'll take another pill

Praying for the wave to come now

It must be for the fifteenth time

I've been here for much too long

This is the past that's mine

I want to fly and run till it hurts

Sleep for a while and speak no words in Australia

I want to fly and run till it hurts

Sleep for a while and speak no words in Australia

In Australia

Praying for the wave to come now

It must be for the very last time

It's twelve o'clock till midnight

There must be someone to blame

I want to fly and run till it hurts

Sleep for a while and speak no words in Australia

I want to fly and run till it hurts

Sleep for a while and speak no words in Australia

In Australia

Australia, in Australia

I want to fly and run till it hurts

Sleep for a while and speak no words in Australia

In Australia

In Australia

In Australia

on the first verse the writer tells us about his condition that seems to be unwell, he doesn't know if he's tired or ill, i pictured him looking at the mirror and checking out on himself, and see that his cheeks are turning yellow, perhaps it's one way of saying pale. this describe a state of exhausted or even fatigue. this verse explain about his physical condition.

on the second verse the writer explore more about how he feels, his emotion. he is hoping for the wave to came, that must have been the fifteenth time. this line explain how he is waiting for something new to come, to change even to erase, just like the wave did on the shore, the things that he used to have, in his memories, what he had been experienced before that lead him to the condition that he explained before on the first verse. the writer affirmed his weariness on the next line by saying that he's been on that particular point for too long, which is his past that he own. this line shows that the writer is fully understand and realize that once you had something, that once you had experience an incident or events in your life, you can never really put them away. yes you can put them aside, but definitely not erase it permanently.

so that will lead us to the third verse, the refrain, my most favorite part haha ... and of course the climax, the main idea that the writer wants to say.

when everything seems to be out of control, you're on a verge of getting crazy, mad at something, but you can't cross that line. so yes, it's agreeable to fly and leave everything, means that going up, to the sky, but not dead, you don't want to be dead yet ^^. picturing that the sky above is vast, wide and sure is big enough for the writer alone. the writer wants to be empty as the sky, pretty much means to unloaded his troubled mind.

another thing that you want to do when you're facing trouble is running away. the writer also wants to run until his feet are hurt. run as fast and far as we could seems would be a great thing to do. i remember forrest gump, when he run and run because the girl he always loved, jenny, leaved him. gump stopped running because he felt tired, and perhaps he's feeling a bit okay after what happened to him. so this line also emphasizing, the writers determination to forget about something.

after the writers effort to ignore the things he used to have, he wants to cool it down, and relax for a bit, by saying sleep for a while and speak no words. a moment to be alone, to rest, the outcome or the goal after it, is you'll wake up fresh, and feeling much more better than before. but why in australia?

i think maybe because manic street preachers is british, if they want to go in  a holiday, they would prefer to go someplace warm ^^
