My first experience using the woman's train was very impresive. I arrived at Pondok Cina around 7 am, and the train came at 7.07. I was surprised that it's full already. I noticed that each door has one security person and was dominated by female security. I felt secure. When I enter the train, I cud only stand with little space surrounding me. But I'm happy even with that only :-) Why? Because, normally at this hour, if I'm using the normal train, though it has a special section for women only, it would be very packed. One woman once collapsed due to breath difficulty. We're like smoked fish dump in one place. So, ya, I'm happy because at this hour we can still "breathe."
The second thing that impressed me was in one of the stations an old lady came in with a staff . She walked very slow. As the train moved, a female security came and asked some of the passangers to give their seat to her. I felt happy though it occured in my mind why do they have to wait for the security to ask them. On the the next station a pregnant lady came in. Her belly wasn't that big. One lady from the same row, seated next to the old lady with staff, stood and called the pregnant lady to seat. I'm very happy for that. No security needed to remind her.
The third thing that impressed me a lot was the announcer guy who untiredly reminded us to watch our step, to prioritize the seat for old women and pregnant lady, to be ready for the next station, and to check our tickets and belongings. I felt humanized in this women train. I felt secure. I can sense that the others were feeling the same.
But, I do hope that these environment and service is felt also in the other train, regardless whatever train it is. And my note is, this kind of environment and service should be happening in the economic subsidized train. Why? You may think that I do deserve this good service because I'm paying Rp. 8.000 for one trip. But in my opinion those using the economic subsidized train deserves the same security service, the same announcer service and the same cleanliness. What differentiate is only the airconditioning and the comfortable seat. To put it sharply, we are the same human who deserves the same humane service.
