Konnichiwa! Let's talk about Japan~ 

What comes to your mind when you hear the word "Japan"? Sushi? Kimono? Samurai? Or something advanced like the Fukushima nuclear accident?

So, Japan is a nation that offers a fascinating blend of ancient traditions and modern innovations which create a rich tapestry of Japanese culture that is deeply intertwined with its unique language. Nihongo --- the Japanese Language is the "cornerstone" of this country's identity. It has a complex writing system that includes Kanji (characters borrowed from Chinese), Hiragana, and Katakana. It reflects Japan's historical interaction with neighboring cultures and its evolution over time. Nihongo is not just a language but also the expression or manifestation of traditional mores and values in Japan which serve to preserve its culture.

Besides the languages, Japanese culture is characterized by a deep reverence for tradition and a harmonious coexistence with nature. Have you heard about the famous line " (kachou fuugetsu)"? - "Flower, bird, wind, moon." It means to experience the beauty of nature and be in harmony with it. This is evident in various cultural practices such as tea ceremonies, Ikebana (flower arranging), and the art of bonsai. These traditions are not merely activities but are considered spiritual disciplines that cultivate mindfulness and a sense of beauty. Festivals like Hanami (cherry blossom viewing) and Obon (a festival honoring ancestors) also reflect the importance of nature and familial ties in Japanese culture.

Here comes the best part, Washoku -- the Japanese foods! Japanese cuisine, known for its emphasis on fresh ingredients and aesthetic presentation, has become a global phenomenon. Sushi, sashimi, ramen, and tempura are just a few examples of dishes that have transcended cultural boundaries and gained international acclaim. Japan also has a specialty drink called "Sake", a rice wine that is much sought after and favored by both Japanese people and tourists. And oh, do you know about Japanese food culture? Japanese food culture is equally influenced by Chinese and western food culture. Table manners play an important role in Japanese food culture. Leaving a messy plate or misplacing chopsticks is a no-no for the Japanese. Instead, fold your napkin and use a chopstick holder. Dishes in Japan are as important as the food they serve! The plates are specially selected by the chef, most are hand-painted and as a customer, you are also expected to ask the chef or waiter about the history of the plate!
