Self Care for Nurses

If they said nurses are angels without wings, I agree because nurses in the profession will face multiple manners of patients and need patients, too, but on the other hand, nurses are also human beings. Sometimes, we need a break in duty time, but our work faces multiple conditions and multiple cases of patients with no time for even just 15 minutes for a break. I told my team friend that no one could understand the nurse.

Our duty time is from 8 to 12 hours, with shifting duty, morning, evening, and night duty. Duty is an unpredictable situation, sometimes bust, too complicated, and sometimes not busy; that time, we are happy we can take a break, pray, and even finish our cup of tea or coffee, tired, overloaded with work, paperwork, report and same procedures with the patient, not all nurse facing patient according to the responsible of the nurse, and which department they work, the nurse is multiple work and skill, in my opinion, the nurse can work with various of job, I am so proud being a nurse even our job are risk and sometimes danger too.

Due to the multiple cases and conditions of patients and the environment during duty time, we need extra self-care for our health, mental health, and emotional well-being and to maintain our bodies. 

Self-care is essential for us as nurses' emotional, spiritual,  social, physical, and professional self-care.

1. emotional self-care

we know how to recharge our mood and do something to make us happy. Everyone has a different way of making them happy. When you feel unstable and emotional, do something like seeing sunlight, nature, or green, like gardening. I like to write, read, and sometimes watch comedians.

2. Spiritual self-care

We can't lose contact with anyone, but we never lose contact with GOD; our faith, like cell phones, sometimes has low bath rates, and our faith needs to be recharged. Unstable faith makes us unstable emotionally; in life, we are not only intellectually and emotionally intelligent, but we also need spiritual intelligence; setting your healthy boundaries and environment will remind you about the essential things: always stay in a good way, stay in a halal and legal way.

3. social self-care

in a week of duty, we have an off day, which we can spend on social self-care, for example, meeting with our relatives and friends; even just a few hours in a digital area makes it easy to communicate with each other with family and friends, or maybe we can have unique dating with someone we love, meet with close friend and share our story and eat our favorite food and can visit a new place together.

4. physically self-care

many ways to physically self. Care, for example, take an exercise routine, mainly when your hostel provides a gym and has a compound for running or jogging in the early morning with a fresh area, or your area near the beach where we can spend our morning on the beach before 8 am, good for to get vitamin D, another way we can diet eat less sugar.

5. profesional self- care

Keep in touch and maintain good communication with your manager and co-workers. Teamwork makes effective communication; as a leader, be a good listener to your team; as a team member, never hesitate to ask something from your manager; you can refuse anything unwanted over time because we are the one who knows the condition of our body.

That is where care for nurses is needed. Maybe you have another way of self-care you will find to help you enjoy life and meaningful work to keep your life balanced.
