Star syndrome is a term to describe someone feels to be more perfect than others. People who experience this will think of him as an impressive and famous figure. When someone has Star Syndrome, they cannot accept criticism from others because they feel perfect and do not want to lose to others who almost compete with them.

A someone has Star Syndrome usually requires a lot of attention from other people. It also requires admiration from others towards him. Therefore, they find it difficult to empathize with the people around them. Not only that, someone who has Star Syndrome will find it difficult to interact with those closest to him. This of course makes the relationship with the closest people to be tenuous.

At first, Star Syndrome was most often experienced by celebrities only. However, as time goes by, social media users are also vulnerable to experiencing Star Syndrome, especially for social media users who will or have achieved certain goals, such as getting a lot of followers on their social media accounts. When this is achieved, this can trigger the initial symptoms of star syndrome.

Star Syndrome is indeed very worrying. What's more, if they don't get what they want, it will trigger depression and even suicide. However, the cause of Star Syndrome cannot be known with certainty.

However, experts agree that one of the causes of Star Syndrome is environmental factors. For example, when someone gets a parenting style that is very spoiled by their parents, it will make the child feel like they are a star. Another example is parents who give too much hope while the child cannot.

A person affected by Star Syndrome can be characterized by the following characteristics:
1. Have a very high sense of egoism
2. Always want praise and admiration from others
3. Not being open to criticism and suggestions from others
4. Has such high self-confidence that they feels superior to others, so he only wants to associate with people of the same degree as himself.
5. Takes advantage of someone to achieve their goals
6. Having the thought that other people are jealous of the achievements he has achieved.
7. Make every effort to seek the attention of others in any way

Then, how do you overcome/protect yourself from Star Syndrome? You can try some of the following tips:
1. Don't get too carried away with popularity and praise from other people
2. Control your emotions. If you can control your emotions well, then your thinking will be clearer and you won't suspect that other people are jealous of your achievements
3. Looking for a friend or support system. People who have Star Syndrome usually have a lot of complaints and feelings of disappointment in their hearts. You can find friends to take out all your complaints. A good friend will be a strong support system and keep you awake from Star Syndrome.
