QATAR WORLD CUP AND ISLAMIC CIVILIZATION : PRINCIPLES OF QATAR FOREIGN POLICY, WESTERN HIPOCRISY, MOROCCO PLAYERS CELEBRATION

Although in the end Morocco lost in the quarter-final match against France, it does not rule out the possibility that they will be ranked third in the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 event. At least Morocco has represented the North African continent in the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 event. And moreover, Morocco, which is a country where the majority of its adherents are Muslim, does not only represent the pride of the African people in particular, but also the Middle Eastern Arab community and Muslim society in general. Likewise with the country with the largest Muslim population in the world, which is thousands of kilometers away from the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 event. An island nation which, according to a survey, is included in the top four countries with the most social media users.

Behind the clamor of football fans in Indonesia, it turns out that our people were treated to extraordinary views from this event. For example, in one match between Saudi Arabia and Argentina, Saudi Arabia was able to beat Argentina with a score of 2-1, in which the Argentine team was filled with the best world-class player named Lionel Messi. Everyone was amazed and a little distrustful of the appearance of the Saudi Arabian squad in that match. Then there was also the Japanese team that managed to beat the German and Spanish Panzer teams, which in the end made the German Panzer team – which caused controversy when they held a silent protest because they were prohibited from using the “One Love” symbol – to immediately leave Qatar. Of course the victories achieved by Saudi Arabia and Japan represent the pride of football fans in their respective countries, and generally also represent the pride of the people of Asia, who may be fed up with the domination of Europe and countries on the Latin American peninsula in mastering football. This article we created will discuss three discussions that have been in the spotlight of society and their relation to Islamic civilization.

CHAPTER I PRELIMINARY

Islamic civilization clearly began in the middle of a barren desert whose people are known as jahiliyyah people, people who live in ignorance. Their stupidity is because their lives are filled with nuances of paganism, idol worship, and the immoral behavior of most of the people. Fajar Islam came, brought by a descendant of Quraysh, whose lineage or genealogy is connected with the Prophets Ismail and Ibrahim. The name of the Prophet Muhammad, the Prophet who was known by his Ummi (could not read and write), but the people around him knew him well as a person who had a polite, honest and trustworthy temperament. The teachings he brought were widespread and accepted by various circles. His friends carried out expansion and expansion of power to surrounding countries, and made the society that was approached by the dawn of Islam become a civilized and moral society. It was not only Mecca and Medina that were the centers of Islamic power, strength and civilization, even countries on the Arabian peninsula and even to northern Africa had been ruled by Islam. Indonesia, which is an archipelagic country and a producer of spices, is also a place to expand Islamic teachings. The Archipelago, which at that time was dominated by Hindu-Buddhist teachings, eventually accepted Islam as the teachings adhered to by the majority of the people of the Archipelago. Until now, Indonesia is the largest Muslim religion in the world.

 CHAPTER II QATAR FOREIGN POLICY

Islamic civilization, which until now has been in control in the countries we have mentioned above, is still firmly adhered to and carried out in various ways. One of the things we discuss here is the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 event, where Qatar, as the organizer and host, made a policy that prohibits LGBTQ symbols, alcohol, drugs, free sex, and open clothing.

What will be discussed in more depth in this presentation is LGBTQ, which is prohibited at the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. The Qatari government and people who uphold Islamic values strictly prohibit the practice of even LGBTQ symbols. In fact, this was supported by FIFA President Gianni Infantino, who even called the West considering Qatari authorities violated human rights and individual freedoms as Western Hypocrisy. He said, “Today I feel Qatari, today I feel Arab, today I feel African, today I feel gay, today I feel disabled, today I feel a migrant worker. This moral lesson giving one-sided is just hypocrisy. I want to avoid giving you any lessons of life, but what is going on here is profoundly, profoundly unjust.” He added, “I’m European. For what we Europeans have been doing around the world in the last 3,000 years, we should be apologizing for the next 3,000 years before starting to give moral lessons to people,” Infantino told hundreds of reporters on Saturday. “How many of these European or Western business companies, who earned millions and millions from Qatar and other countries in the region – billions every year – how many of them addressed the rights of migrant workers with the authorities? I have the answer for you. None of them,” the FIFA chief said, adding “the one-sided moral lesson is just hypocrisy.”

 CHAPTER III WESTERN HYPOCRISY

The actions of the German players ahead of the match against Japan reaped controversy. They action covered their mouths ini protest at FIFA regulations which forbade them from using armbands. On their social media page on instagram, they made an official statement regarding the actions of their players.

They said, “We wanted to use our captain’s armband to take a stand for values that we hold in the Germany national team: diversity and mutual respect. Together with other nations, we wanted our voice to be heard. It wasn’t about making a political statement – human rights are non-negotiable. That should be taken for granted, but it still isn’t the case. That’s why this message is so important to us. Denying us the armband is the same as denying us a voice. We stand by our position.”

More than 27,000 netizens have commented on this post, the majority of which actually made fun of Germany’s action, which in the end they lost to Japan. There were also netizens who linked the incident to the case of Ozil being expelled, for defending human rights in the Uyghurs. Because of this, many consider Germany a hypocrite when it comes to human rights issues. Besides ridiculing Germany for being hypocritical and eventually losing to Japan and having to return to their country, netizens also linked Germany’s actions to wanting to be respected, but not wanting to respect the policies of host Qatar.

Do not want to the lose to the Germany players, the French sports minister Amelie Oudea Castera urged the national football team to do the same with the Germany football team and make themselves heard by FIFA authorities over the punishment of using captains armband. This is intended so that France is also considered the same by the world that they defend human ritghts. But the French football federation (FFF) president Noel Le Graet said itu would follow the guidelines of FIFA.

Same with Noel, French midfielder Matteo Guendouzi reject the intention of the French sports minister Amelia Oudea Castera. He said, “She is a policitian she says what she wants, we explained our position about this situations (before The World Cup) but we are here to play football and enjoy our selves on the pitch.”

 CHAPTER IV MOROCCO PLAYERS CELEBRATIONS

Although in the end Morocco lost in the quarter-final match against France, but actually they won in the hearts of anyone who loves and wants a good civilization for all human beings. Their celebrations on the pitch showed us all about how we honor our parents and families. The intimacy they showed in front of us certainly makes anyone who seen itu jealous. This is not just a football match, but a demonstration of Islamic civilization which has long been built and is still being practiced by the Moroccan football players.

The mass media also reported on the attitude of the Moroccan players and officials who showed intimacy with their families. There is heartwarming momen showed by Achraf Hakimi shared a kiss with his mom. There is when Sofiane Boufal danced with his mom in the pitch to celebrate their historic win after against Portugal at the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar. There is also the coach of the Moroccan football team Walid Regragui kissed his mom. And there is also the Moroccan football team striker Youssef En-Nesyri who approached and hugged his father. And don’t forget the goalkeeper of the Moroccan football team Yassine Bounou who brought his son during the interview session. If what we have written is the relationship between the Moroccan football players and their parents and children, then there are those who bring their brother during the interview session, that is when Sofyan Ambrabat was kissed on the forehead by his brother.

What the players of the Morocco football team showed, invited a German commentator talked about what he had seen. He said, “We no longer see the intimate family bonds in our western societies. The concept of family is fading, and we can only see the players kissing their models and girlfriends while their parents are left in nursing homes. The moral support of the family played a big role ini Morocco’s wins, while we came to support homosexuality and place our hands on our mouths. We taught them (means the Moroccans) how to play football, so they excelled and exceeded us, and we should learn ethics and family values from them, hoping one day we see our players kissing the forehead of their mothers and fathers too.”
