In case you never heard Oasis before, you could listen to this as a start, Oasis Time Flies, released 2010

Yesterday was very special. My sister and I went to Ancol, Jakarta to see our favorite rock and roll star, yes! It's William John Paul Gallagher, or widely known as Liam Gallagher. He was former Oasis frontman, atleast until 2009 before the band splitting up.

Oasis was famous with long list of brilliant albums like Definitely Maybe (1994), (What's The Story) Morning Glory? (1995), Heathen Chemistry (2002) and so on, contained with songs that plastered in your head for a long long time. That kind of song that can be sung by people with average singing ability- means you can sing them together with friends at karaoke, at football match, in math class , in the street etc.

If you fit them with 1990's, you'd get this overwhelmed nostalgic feeling. I mean they repeated " Go Let It Out" again and again on MTV back in the days.  Together with other brilliant bands like Blur, Ride, Smasking Pumpkins, Weezer, and Nirvana, Oasis was a big deal in 90's even until now to some. Come on, can't we deny that Oasis was the best thing in 90's, can we?

I don't think I'm exaggerating because even in recent days sometimes I can easily spot someone wearing an Oasis t-shirt on the streets of Jakarta, or Oasis songs being sung by some fellas in this little showcase at malls-it's a draw with Beatles songs, I guess. I even once saw a guy playing "Wonderwall" through his handphone's speaker in a public transportation like ' I don't care everyone else I want to listen to it loudly' . I mean it's mad!

And Liam's solo album, released just few months ago, is surprisingly catchy as well. You could try listen to " Wall of Glass" or "For What It's Worth" and you'd find yourself instantly falling in love with him again after all these years.

Drizzly rain fell down slowly while everyone was waiting in the most excited ways to redeem their voucher and have the concert ticket in hand. Some were seen busy pulling off umbrella from their bag, some found cardboard and using it as a head cover, it's so funny. Even some men did not want to miss the opportunity to sell plastic raincoats---which later it became a joke between me and my sister that we just bought a parka jacket instead of plastic raincoat.

Concert was begun at 9 pm. Opened with "Rock N Roll Star". Liam was undeniably handsome and still got that voice!

Talking about voice, truthfully, not as unique or powerful as him in 90's, I could hear his voice trembling when singing some slow songs. Not just once I closed my eyes and imagined Noel was there to cover him as backing vocal, it would be perfect.

But, come on, Liam' s in his forty something. It's amazing he can maintain his voice and stamina like that. Especially after struggling with continuous sore throat washed by alcohol laden drinks during his on-off between Oasis-Beady Eye, Beady Eye to solo---He's indeed still got the rock and roll star voice.

Second song was "Morning Glory" (one of my favorite), followed by "Greedy Soul". The crowd cheered happily as "Wall of Glass" , "Paper Crown", and "For What It's Worth" being sung. Liam was energetic as always with his tambourine and all. The night's getting warmer as "Some Might Say" and "Slide Away" came as the next songs. And then "Live Forever" seemed to be the last one.

But not really!

As the crowd chanted we want more thing and Liam did not seem to appear again, we started to sing some part of " Champagne Supernova" together. First in a very low murmur (I've no idea who started that at first- but let's cheers to whoever it was!), until the whole building singing Champagne Supernova passionately - and it was beautiful.

Liam seemed so happy because he jumped to the stage again saying thank you to us for singing Champagne and promise to perform it when he come again to Jakarta. It was serene and sweet.

So he came once again singing the loudest "Cigarettes and Alcohol" then closed the show by singing "Wonderwall" together with us.

So, that's my story about first concert I attend this year. Hope will come back again to you with more review. I should've been writing about 2 more concerts last year, really want to but I'm afraid I forgot some details. You could check some clips on my youtube page if interested:

Here's another two of my favorite concerts:

(The Paper KitesLive in Jakarta 24 November 2017)

(Air Supply Live in Jakarta 3 March 2017)

Last but not least, I want to give a shoutout to the fans of Liam and Oasis at the last Jakarta concert. I don't know how we're being cool and nice at the same time, some would guess we're too sweet for a rock audience, hahaha. I will not forget how everyone excitedly screaming "Rock N Roll Star" lyrics outside the venue when the band doing a soundcheck earlier before the concert.

It's the craziest thing!
