The program is designed for youths in Malaysia from the age of 18 to 40-year-old. No education background will be evaluated but the participants need to undergo the technical training by the related departments and agencies.
Among the aids provided to the participants is training and technical consultation. For start-up projects, they will be provided with non-monetary grant (in kind contribution) and for expanding project, they will be provided grants from two agencies which are TEKUN Nasional (up to RM50,000 per project) and Agrobank (up to RM200,000 per project). In order to receive the aids, participants need to come up with business proposal and other related documents.Â
The process will start with the application and will be reviewed by few agencies in district level to state level to headquarter level and finally to Ministry level before the application can be accepted.Â
This is an annual program and as of last year, the participation is recorded to increase to 200%. About 30% from the applications last year that has been approved were women. In Malaysia's 2018 Budget, the former Prime Minister Najib Razak announced to have about 3.72mil USD allocation for Program Agropreneur Muda 2018 and hoping for 50% participation of women in the program.
