We all know that Indonesia is home to the richest biodiversity in the world. Even Indonesia is famous throughout the world for its biodiversity. In Papua, there is a wealth of flora and fauna, one of which is Burung Cendrawasih. Because of its beauty this bird is nicknamed 'the bird of paradise' . This bird likes to play in the trees, jumping from one tree to another. Their movements are so graceful. Cendrawasih is one of the natural resources that the Papuan people are proud of and preserved because of its very beautiful fur. Other than that, Cendrawasih is a species that is only found on the island of Papua, and has an important role in the cultural customs of the tribes in Papua. But unfortunately, the existence of Cendrawasih is now almost extinct. These birds are often hunted for traded, there are always collectors or bird lovers who are willing to pay it with an expensive price for a Cendrawasih. And Cendrawasih  preserved for decoration, like for women's hats in Europe. Even people in Europe also think that this bird has a kind of miracle where it can always be in the air because of its beautiful feathers and never land. The feathers can also be used as a traditional ceremonies. So the illegal hunting continues and makes the bird even more endangered.

Beside from the low reproductive rate, the cause of the extinction of these beautiful birds is the destruction of their habitat. Opening oil palm plantations, logging, and searching for wood in the mountains and hinterland of Papua have changed the environment which has become the habitat of Cendrawasih. The main reason why many animals in Indonesia are extinct is because the increasing human population, the higher the demand and space needed and also overexploit. Humans are too selfish to not think about the bad effects of the needs they need for daily life which threatens the lives of animals. If Cendrawasih goes extinct, Indonesia's animal diversity will decrease. Maybe the future generations will only be able to see the beauty of Cendrawasih only through the pictures.

Environmental damage greatly affects the extinction of animals because it is also related to the ecosystem. For example, if we destroy the environment they live in for our own benefit. Whereas the environment is a place to find food, a place for breeding, and a place for animals to live. That's where the animals become extinct where they can't find food and don't have a place to live. This is something that must really be considered. I think there are many things we can do to reduce the number of animal extinctions in Indonesia. Starting from small things such as supporting and participating in campaigns to protect endangered species or protection of endangered species. We have to be careful before buying a product. Make sure that the products we buy are not made from endangered animals. And volunteering in a national park or giving donations in an effort to protect animals. We can do this both on social media or directly participating in this campaign.
