"Polaroid" Film Review (2019), A Horror Film That Has An Unexpected Plot Twist

Polaroid (2019) is an American supernatural horror film directed by Lars Klevberg that attracted my attention to review it. Besides having a horror genre, this film also has a drama and thriller genre. 

The film is based on Polaroid by Lars Klevberg. It was produced by Roy Lee, Chris Bender, Michael Mahoney under the auspices of several production companies, namely Dimension Film, Benderspink, Eldorado Film, Vertigo Entertainment. In 2015, Dimension Film announced the film with Klevberg as director and Blair Butler as the script writer. 

On March 9, 2017, Principal photography began in Halifax, Nova Scotia. The film is actually scheduled for release in 2017, but then the schedule was changed and officially released in 2019. The actors and actresses of this film are:

The film begins when it tells about an ancient polaroid camera that was discovered by Bird Fitcher (Kathryn Prescott) a high school student with her friend. But there is something dangerous about the Polaroid Camera. 

After Bird Fitcher took a picture of her best friend, someone stalked her friend's death. Until one day, she learned the fact that whoever was photographed using this ancient camera would be killed by the devil in a cruel way. The film has an unexpected and untrustworthy plot twists at the end of the story.

Acting of the actors and actresses are truly fascinating in every scene of fear, they show natural expressions and bring a tense impression, it is connected with the make-up of the artists that are very compatible with the characters in this Polaroid film add a positive value in terms of acting.

Philip Giffin also succeeded in adding to the impression of horror in each of the scenarios. The use of backsound in this film is very suitable with the story so that I got goosebumps when watching it, especially the backsound effect when the devil appears made me shocked and screamed spontaneously because of the unexpected appearance of the demon.

The authorization style of Blair Butler is also very supportive to make this film not boring for the viewers. Although there are some scenes where there is no emergence of the devil, for example when Bird go to an event, the audience will not feel bored because the actor's innate style can be enjoyed by the viewers.

In addition, Cinematography by Pl Ulvik Rokseth succeeded in bringing the impression of thriller, drama and horror in the same time, such as in the part when Bird and Devin went to Mrs. Joseph's house to know the truth about everything, The editing by Peter Gvozdas that is very neat and the impression of horror I could feel when watching from the beginning to the end of the story. 

There is one scene that in my opinion has a less natural effect, which is the scene when a police's body is split into two, but for the whole, editing is extremely awesome, it was not in vain to reschedule the release date of this film because editing can also maximize its work.

For the place used for shooting is also in accordance with the story so that it can make the message conveyed acceptable by the viewers especially in the part when Bird and her friends go to the police station at night. The directions in this film are unpredictable to get the ending of the story because it has an unexpected plot twist.

I gave a score of 9 from the scale 1 to 10 for the whole film because it is awesome film. Every good part of editing, make up, setting, acting and others add a positive value to make this fantastic film. Something that we can take from this film is that being a parent means that we have to take care of our children and we must not see things only through one side, but must also consider the other side before judging someone. 

This film is unpredictable ending, so it is suitable to watch for lovers of horror films, thrillers and drama. I suggest for those of you who want to watch this movie prepare your heart and friends before watching, don't watch it if you are alone. For those of you who like this movie genre but don't watch this film? You will regret it. IT'S A MUST!!
