What do you think if you been invited to stay in local family member for 3 days, get free meals, invited to visit some tourism spots in Bondowoso ?
Yea.. most travelers will say Yepp I do.. Yeaa I would love to join!
“Ijen Festival” is a maiden project organized by the citizen of Bondowoso City to promote language and cultural exchange between local community and foreign visitors. Within the framework of Ijen Festival, we develop a program called Language & Culture Exchange Festival that will be held in June 8 – 10, 2012.
The festival is apparently unique in which people from various countries can share stories and experiences intheir homeland. They can also learn and understand other cultures as we provide a meeting point for people to interact. Bondowosoites, which represent non-urban community in the eastern peninsula of Java Island, will also impart their genuine hospitality to the foreign visitors so they would feel at home. Visitors would feel the joy of being the member of Bondowoso community. And, this eventually leads to a better world and a better life at large.
The festival will be an international event. The event aims at easing the gap between the East and the West by promoting a deep interaction of languages, cultures, life styles, people and communities.
The event will be held in three days, and is divided into three unique camps/sessions: – Languages Camp – Culture Camp – Carnival
The festival committee invites all travelers around the world to apply, join, volunteer and support this event. The successful applicants will also be guided to visit several enchanting tourism spots in Bondowoso. They will live in local host families, and will have carnival in the last day.
Committee also provide prize for the best participant and the best group in this event. The participant will get not only great experiences, but also new friends, new network.
Do you know the traditional food of Bondowoso? It’s called tape (read: taa-peh). It is usually sold in a wrapped package made of woven bamboo. “Tape”, which is made of fermented casava, is basically sweet. The visitors may not only taste tape, but they will also learn how to make it!
